"Something that passed me by entirely over Xmas, but Colorado Rapids' Cork born defender Shane O'Neill spent a week training with Fulham."

"Rapids also sent three players to Everton which they do annually but O'Neill's Fulham stint wasn't arranged by the club, nor was it a trial."

"20-year-old O'Neill was born in Middleton but he represented the US at the Under 20 World Cup last year. Noel King has been in touch."

Kane Ferdinand has signed on loan for Skrill Premier team, Luton.

Thought he would have been too good for that level.

He was on loan earlier this season at Northampton, came back in and was involved briefly with the first team but has also spent time training with the youth sides this term at his club so something amiss it seems alright, and it's a pity as when his side almost stayed up in the Championship last year I was at a number of their games in the run in and he was making the side in key matches and seemed to have that level in him fairly comfortably at that point.

Daniel Kearns has been uninvolved for a month and a half now. Peterborough won 10 of the 12 games he was involved in and he seemed to be getting decent reports but he hasn't featured since coming on at half-time and getting booked in a loss to Walsall. Disappointing, as he seemed to have finally turned a corner.

On the opening win day Vs Swindon he was the best player on the field. His form did dip, but the club is in a pretty poor run, I haven't been recently but those I speak to say the midfield is wrong, so surprising he is getting no run at all.

Foley not in Wolves plans after accumulating 53 minutes worth of playing time all season. No clubs interested.

    This weekend can be a great breakthrough weekend for young irish players in the FA cup. Was it 3 or 4 yrs ago now that mccarthy got his first start for wigan in fa cup after seeing very little action for his first 5 months at wigan and has never looked back since. Hopefully this weekend throws up something special as well. Maybe some of these will be involved;
Hull- Henderson would be great if he got chance to stake a claim and be included in the premiership squad for rest of season
Blackburn; O sullivan hasnt kicked on yet had an injury but back now. Lenihan going well in their reserves/21s
Reading- will sweeney get his debut
Sheffield wed- will corry get a chance to get back into side
Wigan- will kiernan get a start
Palace- is garvan in Pulis plans after his holloway fallout
Southend- will clifford shine against higher opposition
Burnley- chance for kevin long to reestablish himself in side. Maybe chance for Luke galagher to be involved
    Sunderland- maybe egan involved
Oldham- Rodgers to get a chance against his dads side. McLaughlin only back from injury he might have had a chance.

No sign of him in the lineup, thought Ian Lawlor might get a shot at the bench for City. Alan Judge on the bench for Blackburn is the only Irish involvement in the game
all the lineups, goals and cards will be on the live blog here as the day progresses: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Live

Henderson not in the lineup for Hull. Quinn, Meyler and McShane all start

Kevin Long gets a chance to strut his stuff against Premier League opposition. Good to see Treacy retain his place in the team as well.

Cliff Byrne has told Sky Sports he is set to leave Oldham this monthand is hoping to fix himself with a new club as soon as possible

We are hearing that Brentford are hoping to sign Wigan defender Rob Kiernan on loan. Brentford boss Mark Warburton is looking to bring in a new defender and is targeting a move for Kiernan who enjoyed a successful spell on loan at Griffin Park last season.

We are hearing Northampton Town are set to sign Sheffield Uniteddefender Sean McGinty on loan until the end of the season as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Chesterfield want to keep Jamie Devitt at the club and are set to begin contract talks with the winger. The 23-year-old initially signed a deal until January 19 when he joined from Hull in July. Spireites boss Paul Cook says:

    • Blackburn have sent defender Kellen Daly and attacking midfielder John O'Sullivan to Southport on loan

Joe Dunne is doing a pretty good job at a mediocre Colchester United team. It will be interesting to follow his and Colchester's progress in the near future.

Graham Kavanagh started well at Carlisle but they have been faltering lately and are in relegation form.

We are hearing Bradford are tracking Dagenham & Redbridgeforward Rhys Murphy as they look to bring in a replacement for Nahki Wells. Former Arsenal trainee Murphy has impressed at Dagenham this season, scoring 12 goals and Bradford are now weighing up a move for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international.
