Question What happened to the Leicester Deal?

"The issue of a training ground wasn't quite resolved as might have been expected by the three-way tie up with Leicester City and Mayfield but there are new, privately run, all-weather facilities in Bishopstown and the hope is that a proposed FAI regional facility for the city would provide the solution to the club's long-term needs...."

© Emmet Malone - Irish Times

The only real benefit I personally saw from the Leicester 'deal' if any was the prospect of proper training facilities for City in mayfield. Doesn't appear anything has happened there now so wheres the 50k a year going?

    Talking i won't i won't i won't

i won't tell anyone i told them so. never trust city and never trust "big" clubs. at this stage, leicester have bit more to worry about (going down going down ) I'd think the "deal" is pretty much dead in the water by now- until we get a new great young player!

Actually, that came across as a bit more aggressive that it was meant to. It's quite possible that the money was spent on the ground and all that. But was it?

I don't think so. Not £50,000 at any rate. The MFA/FAI payed for the Derrynane roof. Nothing else has been done. The TV gantry would hardly cost much...

Close on £20,000 must have come in this week from the Cup game also... where will that end up?

mayfield schoolboys and coaches had 3 day coaching with Leicster coachs coming to Cork last September. City tie up Mayfield is still going ahead. Every week one of the mayfield sides has 2 City players coaching them up at the all weather facility in Mayfield Community School. Mulligan, Ollie, Devine and even Gunther have turned up along with several u21's and reserves.

So if you want to see Gunther in close up coaching check out the all weather pitches any Monday night 6pm -7pm.

You never you might pick up a thing or two. Sorry I mean you might teach him a thing or two.

we could leave a beginners book on tactics lying around up there-"this is 4-4-2, this is 4-5-1" etc., Also, an article on "why not to play a target man ho can't jump or run."

I'm sure I have a few old shoot annuals around he can borrow them if he wants!

Only problem he may sign Andy Townsend to strengthen our midfield!

Perhaps a copy of the new C.D. roms available on coaching??
Knowing Gunther he'd get the Gaelic football version(Hartigan handling the ball remembering the days when he was good enough to play for Ireland)

I'm trying to imply that Hartigan and Gunther are so dumb that they'd play Gaa in a soccer match and as you are allowed handle the ball in GAA it would remind hartigan of his basketball days!!
