    Arriving at Stadium!

    Hi folks,

Just wondering what the POA was for arriving at the stadium - are we going to do a Turkey and have 20,000 in the ground 4 hours before kick-off or are we going for the more orthodox dribs and drabs approach!

My understanding is that there is arthur scargill available in the ground (or at least around it) so hopefully we can all get there a bit early, get the fuel onboard and get ready for a fantastic away performance!

Haven't been as excited about an Ireland game since Spain in the World Cup as i am for this one, could be another historic night!

The only bar that I seen around the place was a Portacabin/ hotdog stall selling cans - that was between the station and the ground. Would be a good idea to get there fairly early and bring the mobile offy so that if no on can find a bar at least we there'll be something to wet the whistle.
(Just because I posted this there will probably be the greatest and biggest pub in the world straight outside the train station)
Where am I now? I'm over here,
I've got those empty pockets and I can't afford a beer.

    Going to the Stadium

I reckon since there is going to be thousands of us at the eiffel tower, it would be some site to see us marching together up to the Gare du Nord train station with everyone along the way joining in. What do you's think?

    Will there though?
    I don't know about that!
So far we've only over 500 listed as confirmed travelling people who've been associated with this site. The meet up has been mooted on the site and I doubt everyone will go to the tower.
I like the idea of us all marching together but many away supporters are very set in their ways and will not join in. The most important thing is that we all sing together and loud in the stadium.

good point P! I don't arrive in Paris until 4 so probably won't make the meet up at the tower (hence the question re: what everyone was doing after the tower) but would like to think we'd all meet up early at the stadium and create a good athmosphere before, during and after the game! I've passed on the info re: the meetup to others not on this website so you may be surprised by the turnout at the tower, there's a group of 20 heading up who I know and if others have done the same then the numbers could be bigger than expected! Let's hope it's goes off peacefully!!

    Meet up?

Another con would be that the Eiffel tower is a bit out of the way of most of the tourist accomodation areas which kinda run vertically through the stadium, the city centre and ond own trhought the latin quarter... then again, if you're only there for the weekend there won't be much of an opportunity to go see the tower at any other time...

    Good points people.

From the people that e-mailed me there are very few that are staying in the area of the Tower so people will have to make an effort to get there. Those already in bars will be pushed to give up their cosy seats I'd bet

Either way we'll atke a group photo of whoever turns up and I'll stick it on the site.

More news is that I've just been on the phone to L'equipe (www.lequipe.fr) France's daily newspaper giving them a 25 min telephone interview about this weekend. I forgot to ask the guy how he found my site though

So there my be newspaper cameras there to record 'the event'?

Also he confirmed that there were over 30+k coming to see the game. He wouldn't be surprised if there were infact 35,000 Green Shirts there that weekend.

    Saturday

Ptegan - If we meet at the Eiffel , whats the chances of seeing the England v Wales match in the nearby region as a warm up. Plenty of beers and the chance of seeing Hartson lay out Rio and Beckham - ahhhh happy days .

    Talking

You have to realise Peader that the talking between this website has spread through to other people planning on going and wondering where the bit of craic will be! Also, it helps when the national radio station 2FM are having their roadcaster there aswell and advertising that as a bit of a party on 'away soil' !

    Jesus!

I got an email from the Independent telling me that they the sports editor of the Herald wanted to contect me but he never got in touch!

Mad...still time to stick one of those banners that you lot will click like crazy so I can get rich

What someone needs to do though is send a text to TodayFM. their sports guy did a story this morning explaining how pints were costing 8euro everywhere.

Or maybe we shouldn't tell them that The Highlander has half price pints from 12 to 8pm daily

I hate the way the press always do these scare stories about how expensive everything is when we play away.

    Why not highlight the positives?

Might be for the better - the people that went to the bother of researching it will know the truth and the prawn sandwich brigade (or Irish equivalent) might stay away!

The rule of thumb when arriving at football grounds on big match days is 'follow the people decked out in green kits'!

Unless, of course, you're a Rangers fan at an Old Firm derby!?
