    Kevin McHugh 100 league goals!

Kevin McHugh scored his 100th Harps goal today against Limerick at the Pikey grounds. He is still only 24 years of age! How many other strikers currently playing in the league have scored over 100? The all time record is held by fellow Harps man Brendan Bradley.

Think it is only 100 goals for Harps (not all in the league).Still ,all credit to the young fella.

I think you'll find a sizeable chunk of Brendan Bradley's goals were scored at Derry City. But thanks for remembering...

For somebody so unathletic looking, he was a great goal-bagger...

    Kevin McHugh 100 League goals

    dcfc steve

You speak of the living legend that is Brendan Bradley one of the all time great strikers in the history of football in the Republic of Ireland?

Brendan played between 1969 and 1986 for most of his career Derry City were either out of football or in the Irish League. He grabbed a handful for City in the League of Ireland at the tail end of his career.

Brendan Bradley played in 1972/73 for Lincoln and returned home because he was homesick. Finn Harps novena's paid off and he returned to the ranks.
You will find that Brendan Bradley scored over 180 League goals for Finn Harps. He also scored for Athlone Town, Sligo Rovers and eventually Derry City.

You need to check these things man ......

Saw the best and worst of him then on Saturday. I didn't realise it was such a milestone - fair play on that. But shame on him for the "challenge" on Dave Conway late in the game. He was fairly challenged for the ball - the ball seemed to spin up and hit him in the nuts and he let out a screetch and dropped. The ref (who was poor enough) was standing right beside the incident and waved play on. No calls from the Harps fans either - they saw it for the fair challenge it was. McHugh got back to his feet - tracked Conway to the other side of the pitch - waited for his chance (1 min later) and cleaved hin from behind. Of course the ref knew what had happened but hadn't seen it. Surprisingly neither did either linesman - he went and sked them. McHugh was taken about a minute later.

I rarely see him in action and he looks like a talented striker - but from waht I saw on Saturday he is also a bit of a snake.

Of course, if Finn Harps stay down and the First Division increases to 12 teams McHugh will have more oppurtunities to improve on his goalscoring than that over-rated Premier Division.

I saw all the goals in Limerick on Saturday the last one for Finn Harps in off the post was the sweetest.
