No loyalty, going gets tough ...
On another note, who in your oppinion are the best 11 footballers in Shannon not playing at the moment that could quiet easily help these two teams out?
And i still dont think that the best eleven players in Shannon would get promotion out of 1A and stabilise the club in the premier????
I would have thought the committee would know the managers plans before they put him in position or would it have been a case, well nobody else wants it??
it is all great as saying there are more teams than your A or b team, but you have to remember that your A team is your flagship. No point in having a cracking underage set up only for the teams to break up after youths ?
I am sure all involved, managers, players, committee have a role in this mess. Interesting but very tough times for hibs ahead methinks and they will do well to starve off relegation. not much in it at the bottom and Newport will fancy their chances after their great result the weekend to leapfrog hibs, especially with the uncertainty surrounding hibs
I hate to say but I had a feeling this would happen. There was a core group of players who had been there for 4-5 years and this was dismantled to bring in these young lads. Who have ultimately let the club and team and manager down. I think the amalgamation has been to the detriment of the both clubs. Sad to say but why when neither club could get together strong youth teams did they figure it would all magically be fixed by joining the clubs together to over time create a stronger A team. It hasn't it's a complete disaster. It's no better than before they amalgamated. Sure they have a few extra underage teams but I really cannot see it baring fruit. Very disappointed for both clubs to have folded and now be in position where they have to dispense of the B team to try keep it all afloat. It's a mess a complete mess.
"Joe Jordan is off to watch Young Boys tomorrow" Ian Darke
ryan Kelly if I am correct here has not finished a season with the same team in the last couple of years .. loyalty is well gone these days players may have no choice but to stay if memberships not paid club will not let players transfer. Also were will they go if they wont put it in for hibs will Shannon town / Olympic take them ?

it looks a complete mess alright but does this sum up Shannon soccer also .. behind all the hibs meltdown .. local rivals town a only 1 point ahead of them after a heavy defeat last weekend and Olympic doing well but only feeding of players leaving hibs or town and who don't tend to stick around to long

Town seem to be struggling with results but players seem to keep turning up.both A and B teams seem to have good numbers turning up..
I watched 1st half of there game sunday and they had decent team out 1. Aherne 2 mccarty 3 o connell 4 hogan 5 some foreign dude 6 darcy 7 burke 8 glynn 9 kelly 10 o connell 11 carew had 5 subs too griffen regan flaherty mccarthy and another Foreign lad . Couldnt believe they lost 5-1 as was 1 nil to caherdavin when I left just before half time..
don't if the league tables are accurate but the hibs b team struggling also 4 pts off relegation and 16 off promotion. will the b player who have only 4 wins in 3a be able to cope in 1a? time will tell
The hibs amalgamation has been a disaster In fairness. Club have lost their identity and still no better. I think its time for one club in Shannon but too many egos trying to hold onto clubs names/history rather than for the better of football in shannon
Not sure if it was a case that no one else wanted it. But Gunner did want it and only he knows why he decided not to ask players to sign, its a big question that has and probably never will be answered.
Can't agree with you on the point you make about no point in having a great school boy set up if the junior teams are bad. That doesn't make sence, Is it ok to have a bad school boy set up if the Juniors are great? I'm comfused.... At the moment Hibs school boy teams under11 / 14 / 15 & 16 are all in the premier divisions in Limerick, a B-team in 3a, 4 points off relegation and an A-team in 1a struggling like never before, their 7s/8s and 9s are going well. so it is not all doom and gloom at Hibs, just unfortunate that a Club is looked at how their Junior teams are doing.
Anyway, alot of players once they turn 17/18 are not worth the time and effort put in by Clubs, they give NOTHING BACK only hassle. Thats not me imagining it, its fact
