We've conceded 28 goals in 21 games.
Not awful - Just mediocre.
Like our strikers and midfield.
All teams concede bad goals in fairness, a lot of teams would consider any goal you concede to be a bad goal.
Swings and roundabouts with a midtable team like ours imo, we've dropped points during the season for want of a clinical striker too.
Ah ya i'm happy with where we are and all that like just think there are too may silly mistakes but like you said thats the way it will be for teams in our position .
Nothing to do with transfers but no point starting a new thread for it i would't mind seeing Nzuzi get a few games in midfield did well there while at that Toulon tournament.
What about the other junior lads who were training, are they still having a look at them or are they gone back to their clubs?
Anthony O Donnell has signed for Cobh from us. Not sure if its a loan or permanent. Had always heard great things about him so a little disappointed he never got the chance to step up to the first team.
a month into the transfer window and not a sniff of an arrival apart from a junior player who is nowhere near the standard or the position we need to improve....have the purse strings been reeled in?
I wouldn't say he's not up to it, Hughes is decent and has a bit of quality... but the position isn't one that needs to be filled or covered. I'd be slightly worried if the window closed and we didn't bring in any cover at centre half... I know he has asked around, and even heard he'd looked at some in the first division (just a rumour), but no movement yet.
If Waterford do get wound up next week, don't be surprised to see Seamus Long being talked about, maybe Dylan Mernagh too as left back cover. Both trained in pre-season before deciding to stay at Waterford.
A lot of pressure will be on O'Callaghan, Folan and Williams for the last 12 games of the season and hopefully they stay injury/ suspension free...
From the little I heard of the end of an interview with Taylor this morning he still has his eye on two signings but they aren't going to break the bank looking to bring in new players. He wants to continue to build the team over the next few seasons bringing through young players for the future. He said he wants to start by being the best team in Munster, then progress from there to the best in the country.
well to be the best team in Munster we have to finish above a Cork side that seems to be unable to string 2 results together and that's not much of an ambition to have. And as for all this pussyfooting with the ball across our own penalty area it needs to stop, shocking stuff, the amount of goals we give away when we are in possession is comical. As regards Gaffney the manager clearly doesn't rate him and to be honest I don't think he's been up to much when he's gotten some game time and if the rumours are true Taylor has been trying to offload him during the window and there doesn't seem to be anyone banging at the door to get him. I know a lot of people are concerned about the lack of signings but I never thought that Taylor was going to be busy and from what I've seen of junior players in this town there are very few(if any) that are up to premier division level our best option is to bring them through ourselves, proper coaching from a young age, not the nonsense coaching that happens at junior level and lets face it unless you're playing with one of the top junior sides there is no coaching, in the proper sense, to even talk about.
2 players to be announced in next 24hrs. One we all know and has been mentioned in previous posts the other from UK.

Jason Hughes and this lad http://theemeraldexiles.com/2013/03/17/carel-tiofack/ i'd guess as they were to play last night.
Was a trial match last night, anyone know how it went?
Any word on how the two Spanish lads played?
No sign of a centre-back or three, then?
Jason will be a good signing, has really proved himself to be a premier player in the last few weeks by playing against local junior sides and Athlone...
(I actually think he'll be a really decent signing, just think it was a bit ridiculous that he didn't even train with the team and was judged on him playing against teams who are no where near as good as who he will be playing against, but still, I'm happy to see him back)
Gamble could be facing some more substitutions now that there's another option on the bench.
Anyone know anything about the other lad? Some of the players have even been a bit bemused by this transfer window. From being linked with Elding, Zayed and McMillan to signing an ex player from the junior league and an ex under age international player.
I'm hoping we'll pick up a centre half in August when they don't have any other options in the UK and Ireland looks attractive to them then.
