    Halfway Point

Now that the mid season break is near. Who would you all have to win each league and get promoted/relegated?
I still fancy Sligo to win the Premier. Shels will go down. Ucd to get 2nd bottom.
I reckon Longford will probably still hold on for the 1st but it will be alot closer than it is now. 2nd and 3rd i think will be Athlone and Waterford. And i fancy whoever wins that playoff game to beat the 2nd bottom in the Premier.
Long way to go yet though.

Pats are by far the best team I've seen this season.

At this stage we have six points less than we did in the whole of last season.

I'm very happy with our progress, particularly to be ahead of Sligo who have taken six points off us! A game in a hand and a freak home defeat to UCD is all that is keeping us out of top spot.

Never mind trying to predict who will win each league. Lets try guess which teams will still be around when the league games resume at the end of June.

If Town can get a win away on Friday night and come through the break with all our players returning to fitness along with 2 or 3 fresh faces I'd be extremely confident. Athlone look like they will make some waves in the window so I'm tipping them for 2nd and Harps for 3rd. I think Harps will scrape the play-off and it's hard to know after that. I cant see Shels finishing bottom funny enough but UCD and Bray always seem to sneak away so it's very hard to call. Going to back Sligo to make some moves in the window and come from behind with Derry 2nd and Pats 3rd.

With one game to the break, we're actually two points behind where we were at this stage last season, 20 v 22.

But we only added 7 points in the second half of the season so we should at least beat the total tally of 29!

Pats are looking very good at the moment. Be interesting to see how they would react if someone like Killian Brennan got injured for a while but they're very solid at the back and able to pass most teams off the pitch. Certainly deserving leaders so far.

Thing is Pat's will probably have their usual 6 games in Europe this season, which will test their squad.

I wouldn't mind seeing us getting knocked out of Europe early this year and have a real go at the league title.
    Here on a technicality.

I still reckon Sligo will do it with Derry beating Pats to second place. fourth place a toss up between Shams and Dundalk, Drogs comfortably in fifth place, Shels bottom and the rest scrapping it out for the play off slot.

Logford to win the first and Harps for the play off

Drogs comfortably 5th with 5 teams finishing above them?

I love how League of Ireland works

I see Pat's finally winning the league.

Shels to somehow have a massive resurgence. UCD will go down.

Longford will win the First Division. Harps will win the play-off.

Between St Pats and Sligo for the Prem don't think Derry have enough quality to keep it going untill the end of the Season. Hard to see anyone catching Longford in the first div now, but they some were saying similar round this time last season. Harps for playoff if they play to their potential, either Athlone or Waterford for other playoff spot and I see the first division team beating 2nd last in premier

I have always believed a top three finish would be a good season for us and I maintain that. Too many average players. Finishing outside of the European places would be a disaster for us.
The only team I can see winning it is Pats and I wouldn't begrudge them one bit. Great side to watch in fairness.
I still think Shels will finish bottom.

Why? McGuinness for McMillan didn't look like too bad of a trade, Quigley a loss but some good players brought in in midfield. If the squad is too weak, why didn't the club strengthen more? I thought the budget was up?

Don't think we were ever favourites to win it last year with Limerick's squad. I'd be cautiously optimistic that if we keep O'Sullivan fit we'll go up. Pure goalscorer which we didn't have last year. We've a bit more depth this year overall and are likely to bring in one or two. Anyway yeah Harps and Athlone for the playoffs. Premier team to win the playoff. Pats for the Premier title. The FAI to merge the two divisions when we finally get back up!
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

If everything goes right for Limerick, 5th. If everything goes horribly wrong, 11th. More likely somewhere in the middle of those two scenarios.

Pats for the league, Shels to go down and then stay up when the second tier is scrapped.

    Mervue United for promotion.

Dont think so. They are already running out of steam. Its still anybody's in the First Division despite Longford pulling ahead. Only two points separating 2nd from 6th. Despite what the rumour mill here says (usually unsubstantiated and a pile of crap), the Blues will be in the hunt for promotion by the end of the season.
