Athlone hand Connor debut loss
Athlone Town handed new Sligo boss Sean Connor a defeat in his first game in charge. Athlone emerged 2-1 winners at the Showgrounds last night.
It had all begun well for the new regime. Ciaran Foley intercepted an attempted back-pass and fired Sligo ahead after just ten minutes.
Niall Donnelly headed Athlone level on the stroke of half time as Sligo failed to defend properly from a corner kick.

Sligo Rovers 1-2 Athlone Town
Athlone Town striker Paddy Mulvihill scored his second goal in as many matches for his new club as the Midlanders secured all three points against Sligo Rovers at the Showgrounds last night.
It was Rovers’ new manager Sean Connor’s first game in charge of the Bit O’ Red and everything was going to plan when the home side took the lead after ten minutes.
