Rolling onto Saturday - Cobh at home

It's only Monday but I'm sure everyone is eager to forget about Saturdays events so looking forward to Cobh and I have to say I'm not confident. Was talking to an Athlone fan who was at their game in Cobh on Saturday and he told me every time Cobh went forward they looked like scoring as did the brilliant Conor Meade. Only thing we can take heart in is that their defence is very weak with Fitzgerald their only strong defender.

If we are to win this game (which we simply have to) we need big changes in the back 4, Cobh are full of pace going forward so thats what we need in our back 4, if Treacy could get fit for this one it would be superb news. We need to start protecting that back 4 in games like this with a holding midfielder but Gillespie is not the answer he is another red card waiting to happen so wheter we have another viable option there im not so sure, it would be a shame to see his power going forward wasted but maybe Mark Salmon could do a job there? Maybe give Quinn his chance through the middle despite his antics last week, he simply isnt a winger.

Up front we need to stop playing long balls to Sully and having Shaw chasing the flick on, it should be the other way around! Maybe give Ischi his chance at CCS again, after all hes scored twice there this season?

Thoughts on that rather bold statement?

We need Hope or Treacy to be fit to start cos to tell you the truth I thought McCarthy was dire last Sat. A tortoise has more pace than him. Any ball played over the top he was strolling back for it (or by him he could of been sprinting!!) and busy looking over his shoulder instead of getting the ball first then look for a pass. Shaw hasn't been scoring and I'm sure confidence is low so maybe play Isichei instead of him. Afterall he has less playing time than Shaw but has scored more. A win on Sat will get us back on track and I'm just hoping like Limerick having Waterford as their bogey team last season (Waterford won all 4 league meetings) ours might well be Harps. If we lose to Harps 4 times but still win the league I'd be very happy indeed.

Missed the game, what antics did Quinn get up to?

Isichei definitely worth a start. He should have surely been brought on earlier against Harps

From what I seen from a good distance was Quinn been handed a training top to put on when he came off, he threw it to the ground and marched down the tunnel. I'm sure others might have some more info on what went on.

I'm not saying he was right or wrong, I'm just stating what I seen. Now if others have heard that there was something else that went on behind the scenes then its a different story. But I definately agree with ya that after 35 mins of play and to be taken off I wouldn't be happy either. He could of taken one or two others off at that stage while he was at it!!

That's precisely what happened. Clearly some angry words exchanged with the bench, didn't look at all pleased going down the tunnel.

He didnt reappear for the rest of the game but he did stick around apparently but was the first to leave after the game. Cousins was wrong to take him off at that point in the game and then to completely ignore him coming off because while Quinn wasnt involved in the game a lot of that wasnt down to him so had he waited until HT and said keith look we need to make a chance for x y and z reasons then I'm sure he wouldnt have reacted in the way he did. Saying that no one player is bigger than the team so he was wrong to react as he did but TC needs to iron out any issues that might be there asap.

A chance to increase the lead to 4 points again if we win tomorrow!Although you have to be glad of the team directly below you dropping points,im still more worried about harps gaining points!

On a different note,I am absolutely delighted to see Waterford lose again..
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Agree with that. Great performance and Quinn was outstanding. Great work for Sullivan's goal. It could have been eight or nine easily. Tom reckoned we were terrible though.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Important to get back on the winning trail. Watched this one from the stand, having the kids with me, don't like it! What was the lineswoman thinking with the peno? Even the Cobh player couldn't believe it..... Thought back 4 were good, Sammon was terrific as was Quinn, delighted with Keith getting his first goal, Sully worked really hard and deserved his goal, agree with Fitzy about the ball from Quinn. Shaw had a great game too. Sammon and Josh hitting the post too... All round great night, back to section L for the next game!

I had said Keith Quinn needed his chance through the middle and he was superb! That pass to Purdy was the best I've seen in a long long time. Petty we didnt keep a clean sheet thanks to the stupid lino but its a great boost to the GD that we got 5 and judging by the lads tweets after the game they reckon theres plenty more to come! Cobh were seriously shocking but it was very entertaining football we finally got it down and played like we should! pitch was in great nick too fair play to all involved.

Great result last night, we needed to get back on the winning trail. Wouldn't be getting overly ahead of myself though, that was a very poor and inexperienced Cobh side. Thought that Quinn behind sully and shaw on the right worked well, shaw will work that bit harder on the right tracking back, and Quinn does have an eye for a pass as we saw last night. Aside from that we took our goals well and could have had more, O'Hanlon and sammo unlucky. I'd expect the likes of isichei, O'Hanlon and 'hope'fully des to start against drogs on Monday before a big game on Friday night down in mervue.
