Comfortable win for the Youths tonight as they got the two early goals and then never let SD back into the game, mainly due to the harder work round the pitch than the opponents. Youths started with Graham, Craig, Gary, Jamie, Jimmy, Eric, Crokey, Brian, Rocks, and Glen and Deano up front. Youths scored with their first attack when, after five, Rocks was sent free down the left and his cross was touched home by Deano. A run by Brian then sent Deano clear but he was ruled offside. On 14, Glen was sent free down the right and he turned inside and shot with his left to beat Keane in the SD goal at the near post for 2-0. A minute later, SD had their first chance from a corner but it was headed over at the far post from a stretching SD attacker. On 24, Jimmy was put clear for the Youths down the left but his shot was blocked by Keane for a corner. This was followed by an SD yellow for handball just outside the box, and the free was parried by Keane but knocked away. SD had another chance on the half-hour when a bad Wexford clearance fell to an SD forward, but his attempted lob from thirty yards out was put wide. A minute later, SD had another good effort when SD's Derek O'Brien got free down the left, turned inside onto his right and struck one towards the far post. Graham did well to get a hand to it, and dropped onto the rebound before any SD forward. Glen then picked up a yellow for a tackle which could possibly have been a red, and Enubele also got yellow for dissent after another foul.

Just before the half-time whistle, SD had another chance when O'Brien again crossed from the left and Curran on the stretch put his touch over the bar just as he collided with Graham for 2-0 to the Youths at half-time. Youths didn't play as well in the second as they didn't manage playing with the breeze as effectively. However, after four, Deano pushed a rebound off the SD keeper just wide of the post. On fourteen, Graham did well to smother a shot by O'Brien who again got free down the Wexford left. Rocks then got a yellow for a tackle and, midway through the half, Shane Nolan came on for Crokey who had bossed the midfield. SD then hit the post with a good half-volley from twenty out with Graham beaten and O'Brien got a yellow for dissent after failing to get a free. With fifteen to go, a lob into the net from an SD attacker was ruled out for offside and Clarkey came on for Brian for Wexford.

With ten to go, O'Brien picked up a second yellow for SD to leave the away team with ten. Daryl then came on for Glen, and in the final minute of normal time, a good cross from the right by Eric was headed home by Rocks at the far post for 3-0. Best for Wexford were Rocks and Crokey while Graham did well when called upon in the Youth's goal. As in previous matches, SD looked vulnerable at the back and were closed down often by the quicker home side. However, they posed a threat when they could get the ball into the final third with O'Brien again looking useful with the ball at his feet for SD. 3-0 to the Youths at fulltime with about 160 in attendance.
