I think it was a sluggish and slow start by Dundalk tonight, but we slowly got a grip on the game and we were clear deserved winners in the end.

Pleasing to see us lift it in the last 15, played some good stuff and just great to finally get the first home win.

Was surprised by Cork, didn't appear to offer much, can't see how Dunne can improve them to be honest.

Very surprising result in UCD surely Crolly under serious pressure now.

The Sultana Cup takes on ever greater importance - should Shams win it the prize money could pay for Trev's taxi.

If we win the Setanta, Trev'll be going nowhere.
EL grounds are like good episodes of The Simpsons, no matter how many times you see them they're still funny

Does Trev not remind you of Nidge in Love/Hate lol

back to business, great game from the town. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Especially the 2nd half when we upped the tempo. cork were a shambles. If i was a corkie I'd be livid after that performance. The last side in OP i saw play like that was us and we where nearly relegated. Very poor from them

on the plus side results went our way tonight. derry and pats draws keeps us in touching distance. Rovers losing was delightful lol.

Before tonight i couldnt remember the last time we won in oriel nevermind back to back league matches

I think it's not overly dramatic to say that we could end up in a relegation dogfight if Dunne stays. We may well be in one on Monday if Bray beat us.

To be fair to him, 'champions of all Ireland' would probably trump last season's 'champions of Leinster' - he'd probably be awarded the job in perpetuity, kind of like a Tallaght version of Kim Il Sung.

The missus of one of your players could run the propaganda department - she's showing again tonight that she's fairly adept at kicking up a bit of a Twitstorm.

Wouldn't be right to provide a link that takes people away from our beloved forum. But if you're of a mind to go searching, I believe the tweet that kicked it off contained "UCD" and "#lol".

Bohs steeped last night that Bray Unmentionables didn`t put away their chances in the first half when Callaghan`s tactical genius had us playing three at the back. Much better second half. Reckon both teams are better than Shels. Of course UCD can now be considered a top team after last nights win over the self-regarding galacticos.
Rovers winning 2 games in ten, is that their worst ever win ratio? Worse than Roddy`s record in the relegation season?

    Ha!

To be fair, Rovers dominated for the full 90 minutes last night; that was a pure smash and grab. A free kick and a counter from a corner when they'd sent their keeper up. Only our second clean sheet in a year, so our defence chose a superb time to but in a collective absolute blinder.

Friday away to Shels will tell a lot, but I'd be confident we'll stay up now. We're scoring goals, getting better game by game and have now shown we can actually defend. Shels and Bray will come bottom two now, I think.

Watched the game on TV last night. Two thoughts - Cork are awful and Dundalk really aren't much better. But for the two goals (from awful cork defending), I don't remember Dundalk opening them up with good passing. To be honest I thought it was poor quality and a poor advertisement for loi on TV. The ball was in the air and hit long for about 70 of the 90 mins. The pitch looks like a cabbage patch on tv. Its hard to judge how mediocre/good Dundalk really are because Cork were so abysmal!

Only one team tried to pass it MM and that was us. The game was ok, first half wasnt brilliant I'll agree, but I thought we played some good stuff especially in the last 20, and passed it about good enough. You say awful defending by Cork for the goals, yes for the second one, but fail to mention the superb free kick 20 seconds before that hit the corner of the bar, or the half volley from Mountney for the first in the same corner. Also I dont think Cherrie had an actual proper goal scoring save to make.

Good luck tonight away to Sligo.

Hmmm i may be biased but a cant agree with most said here. There have been worse games on TV this season, i thought there was some decent football played, scoring oppertunities were spurned after some nice passing and movemement but the feeling was there that a goal was on the way in particular from Dundalk. I expected more from Cork tbh but in saying that with the exception of sligo nobody has looked a real step above and even then both Derry and Sligo losses were not a hammering. The old pitch stuff will always be an issue and it didnt look great on tv but again id rather have the Oriel pitch than some of the others - regardless of what it looks like, it is still a level, non bog/cabbage patch that is unforgiving for the less able players. Judge Dundalk on only losing to the top 2, winning 4 in Dublin, drawing with the *ahem* champions elect salvaging 2 points from being 2 behind v Drogs and Lims. Bray match finishes the first round of matches for us and relative to the previous season, new team and manager the turnaround is phenomenal. We will only improve

    yawnnnnnnnnnnnnn
is that the best you can come up with.

we may be mediocore but based on last season we play like barcelona lol. Also we are getting better and better with each passing game & SK has built the solid foundation of a decent side and i expect him to build on it over the coming season.

your comments about the ball being in the air alot are untrue. we played the ball on the deck and worked tried to work around the pitch. the pitch may of looked bad on tv but hey it isnt a beauty contest for pitches. the ball runs smoothly on it and it has been rigoursly tested and has passed each of the tests that the pitch has been give, no other pitch in the country is subject to the same treatment and given the state of other pitches, i find it baffling.

anyway you just run on and look after your own hoofball specialist side and try to catch us :P

Don't use us as a benchmark anyway whatever you do, we are absolutely awful. We will be around the relegation spots.

Conceding very late goals has cost you 6/8 points, so things cant be that bad - add those lost points and people would have a different opinion. I actually dont have a benchmark as we have had a nasty habit in recent times of beating better sides but not picking up points from those around or below us. This is the major difference this season, and as said neither Sligo or Derry were too overwhelming. When we start playing for 90mins rather than spells of 20 to 30 mins then we will be a formidable outfit and only a couple of months in to building this team.

Adam just thinking Michael Rafter would have been a decent striker for you to take when his contract expired with us last season, he.s a Tipp man, def lost out there, as didn't see much up front from you boys last night.

I really think a better man than Tommy Dunne would improve your players.
