    Dolan refutes exit rumours

    Dolan refutes exit rumours

    September 28, 2004

Cork City manager Pat Dolan has insisted that he will be staying on in the Turners Cross hotseat in order to carry out some “unfinished business” on Leeside.

In recent weeks, Dolan has been locked in the most delicate crisis of his 18-month tenure at Cork, with poor form seeing his side fall off the championship trail.

Must have been a quiet day at the office, wherever that tripe was squelched out, IMO. Here's how it goes . . . "Yawn, any news today lads? Naw? Ah well, lets invent something, and see if somebody denies it."

    Funny ...

Thats exactly what was said when we heard he might leave PATS!!

I dont think he will go either but only because he would have no high profile job to go to?? He could maybe go to rovers but the way they are its hardly profile these days is it?

If Dolan left I honestly wouldnt lose any sleep over it. I reckon he's only keeping the throne warm for Ashton anyway.
By the way am I the only one who fears that Ashton may leave City if a managerial vacancy arises elsewhere?
He's too sucessful for any chairman to ignore these days

Ashton is doing a great job with the U21's but no way would I want him as first team manager.

There's no other manager in Ireland with as good a pedigree as Dolan so why anyone would want him to leave is beyond me. Anyway, he's going nowhere anytime soon so we can all breathe easy!

no, I'd have the same fear myself. As for the Exeter thing, I wouldn't give it a second glance. Not gonna happen

    ..................................................

This is a stupid thread to be honest ..... but even so .... nothing should sway any decision, "replacing Dolan because Ashton will leave" is pure mad and should be give time of day.

If Dolan goes, we should have some who is as good if not better than him in place. There is no one around like that just now and anyway .... Far far too early for Dolan to leave. As i said .... this is stupid thread.

I never said replace Dolan or Ashton may leave. What I meant is that given his success at u21 some clubs will be sniffing round the next time a managerial vacancy arises. Perhaps if he was involved in 1st teams affairs in some capacity might appease him if a club came knocking.

Not saying go or not go if he were to leave or when he does eventually leave weather it be as champions or not there is no one good enough in Ireland as a professional manager. (I include Dolan in that, Fenlon as well) We will have to go abroad and to be fair Bohs have the right Idea get a player manager who is still envolved in a club as they will be willing and able. We are going for a professional league we need professional experience no one in Ireland has that.
    It's only just begun...............
