Compromise reached over Longford clash

The much-feared clash between Longford Town’s FAIreland Carlsberg Cup semi-final meeting with Drogheda United and the county’s Gaelic football final has been averted after the GAA authorities switched the throw-in time for their showpiece.
Officials from both sports had expressed their concern that the Cup holders’ big game had been scheduled to take place at the same time as the county Gaelic football final between Clonguish and Fr Manning Gaels.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
