Saw that at the weekend. Can't be true. All footballers are self interested cheats who rape women for fun.

Well they were right that there was going to be an article: https://m.independent.ie/sport/socce...-36703005.html

It's not very conclusive. Particularly the piece about his advisers potentially persuading him to stick with England- unless those advisers are his Irish supporting uncles.

Looks to me like they got wind of O'Neill's quotes and spoofed the rest.

Yeah, that was my opinion too. They asked him about the player, he said he was aware of him, and if he wanted to declare he would speak with him. Pretty stock answer from O'Neill when asked about any qualified player.

Hopefully it gets the ball rolling all the same, O'Neill's comments I mean.

He should speak now or forever hold his peacein relation to his international allegiance. I find these guys who delay disrespectful. Declare or state you are not interested.

Mick has said in the press conference that Bamford wants to join up and is expected to be in the squad for June.

A bit more on Mick's contact with Bamford here - https://www.independent.ie/sport/soc...-37888877.html

If he does (join Ireland), it's going to be June now because we're not going to get it for these games.

I've made it clear to him, and I would hope to see him ASAP. I asked him the question 'Do you still want to join us?' - 'Yes' was the answer. So it was a matter of meeting him. I stressed to him if he wants to be involved in June, we need to get it done as quickly as possible.

I probably should be more enthusiastic but I've never been as unexcited about a player joining us.
Nothing to do with his abilities, which I don't know much about.
Perhaps it's the whole Grealish / Rice adventures which has soured my tastebuds.

He was very highly thought of as a 16/17 year old, not sure he has pulled up many trees since but will be interesting to see how he goes.

Bamford will be the first proper player we will have secured that has previously played U21 for England (Will Keane doesn't count). Maybe it will make it easier on other candidates to switch once he declares.

Yep. His conduct hasn't been ideal, but we need him

I think he’s a big step up from anything else we have up top. There’s a touch of class about him that I think will serve him well in international ball.

I remember thinking the same when Clinton Morrison came on board. He was messing around a bit before eventually coming on board.... by the time he score the first goal he might as well have been born in Connemara!
