I think though Bamford is in the Dean Kiely bracket. It might work given the paucity of options up front. But he wouldn’t be bothered if he was competing and loosing out too other quality strikers for game time.
Always liked Clinton. I think he only sat on the fence for a few weeks, if I recall, after a couple of high profile FA Cup goals for Palace. But once he was onboard he was all in. Think he even went to watch some U21 games in Dalymount off his own back, when he was in the country with the Senior Squad.

He was the Championship player of the season at 21. A few poor career moves since compounded by some injuries.
It was looking a bit dodgy alright when Mick was struggling to make contact, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully just a breakdown in communication somewhere.
He always made it clear England was his number one choice, given what we've seen recently that's probably something to be embraced. His connection to us is still extremely strong.

I agree Del and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt too. Remember, this guy has been plagued with injuries over the last number of years and the apparent reticence to commit could be as much to do with his body/injury record and wanting to ensure he can handle it as it is to do with any issues with declaring for us, notwithstanding he has always indicated England would be his #1.
I would embrace him. He has stated that he feels a strong connection to Ireland and how glad his mother's side of the family would be. He has every right to throw his lot in with us and will do his best for us. I hadn't realise he was still just 25. He has plenty years to go for us.
He’ll be another Jon Macken
It hurts to say it but there was little buzz when Macken claimed. The buzz about Bamford shows the paucity of our options. But I would rate Bamford higher. He couldn't be a Macken anyway given our lack of options.
Main concern is his constant injuries. He is actually Leeds only fit striker at the moment so is guaranteed to start games - I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up an another injury though.
They were briefly talking about Bamford on the Football Ramble podcast last week. Basically said he is possibly Darren Huckerby … too good for Championship, not good enough for Premiership
Well he’s only played something like 30 games at Premier League level with poor teams (no service or support). I suppose the argument is that an elite player would overcome that — either way at age 25 way too early to write him off as “just” a Championship player.
He just scored again
Kiely was never happy to be sitting on the bench for Ireland and always came across quite dedicated.
I think Bamford will settle in quite well assuming he doesn't get another big injury. I reckon he might get one before the June call up though. I've no problem with him coming in, he clearly is England first but he will give Ireland a good go giving his mothers side of the family and I'm sure it will bring him closer to his "Irishness" and relations.
I'm a bloke,I'm an ocker
And I really love your knockers,I'm a labourer by day,
I **** up all me pay,Watching footy on TV,
Just feed me more VB,Just pour my beer,And get my smokes, And go away
Kiely felt he was the better option than Given. For several seasons he was. Sitting on the bench frustrated him no end but he still showed up.
There is no such thing as a miracle cure, a free lunch or a humble opinion.
Dunno about the “still showing up”. Didn’t he have a strop or two. Then removed himself for selection whilst still playing in the top flight.
Put us off again until at least September.

"We lost because we didn't win"- Ronaldo
Yep,has he submitted his paperwork yet? I’d be surprised. He’s English and wants to play for England, good for him but at some point we have to grow a bit of dignity.Make a call on him now, issue a statement to say he’s asked us to hold off till September but we don’t fancy that and he won’t be considered again. It’ll put an end to this nonsense. The only reason that Bamford is stringing us along is to use it as leverage to try to get an England call-up.Guaranteed he’d take one English cap over 35 Irish ones. Its shameful for the FAI to not only permit, but actively facilitate this behavior.
Le monde est a nous
i hear bamford claims he wants to concentrate on his club career for now. this doesnt stack up as he wouldnt be available till our june games, long after the club season is over. there is no difference between making himself available in sept or june in relation to his club career. we should end our interest now
