    Trains to LOI Grounds

Folks, just wondering how far LOI grounds are from train stations? (i.e. is it a viable way to get to games)

Turners Cross is about 15 mins in a cab, 30-40 min walk from the train station so its not ideal.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Thomond is around 40 minutes from Colbert Station by foot, 10-15 mins by car, not sure about buses. Bus Eireann organised buses for the last few big games to ferry fans from the station to the stadium, but not sure if that will be kept up after the Pats game.

The Showgrounds has a railway end, it is a brisk ten minute walk from train to stiles.

I know the Carlisle Grounds for that Wicklow club are less than 5 mins walk from train station.

Jackman when used by Limerick was right next door, 2 minute walk to the door. Cobh is about 30-40 min walk to the ground, all uphill so its a nightmare, and being honest its so steep its not great on the way back either.

Even better is the enterprise train service, I was late leaving work last thurs, got the 7pm express from connolly and walked into Oriel Park just before 8pm, nice relaxing cold one onboard too, is there any better way to arrive at a LOI ground?

Well Drogs scored 30 seconds after I took my seat to spoil my mood a little !

Richmond is handy to get to from Heuston station, only a few minutes on the LUAS a bit longer on the LUAS from Connolly but handy enough as well.
    Here on a technicality.

Bus Eirinn didn't lay on buses for Pats fans, Pats fans organised and paid for buses to transport them between station and ground.

I'm not saying Bus Eiron didn't do their own buses either but the Pats train home was a charter, and there was no scheduled services that late

Tallaght, similarly, is about 2 minutes from the Red Line LUAS, which goes from both Heuston and Connolly station but it takes about half an hour to get from the City Centre. The Carlisle Grounds is also right beside the DART station, about 40 minutes from the City Centre.

It will get to Broadstone and the Cabra Road though one day.

Tolka Park is a 10min or so walk from Drumcondra Station.

Closer to 'or so' I reckon. More like a 20 minute job than 10.

Train Station in Longford Town - 5-10 in a taxi. Walk probably half an hour. You won't be rushing back anyway, as games generally kick off after the last train to Dublin, and finish after the last train to Sligo.

Dalymount is about a 20 min walk from Drumcondra Station and maybe 40 mins from both Connolly and Heuston, but there are obviously plenty of buses from the city.

It's allright going to games by train but the problem is getting home afterwards. The DART is Ok after games but outside of Dublin there is little chance of getting a late train after the game.
