Dates, times and refereeing appointments have been confirmed for next week’s FAIreland Carlsberg Cup semi-finals, which see Derry City host Waterford United and holders Longford Town welcome Drogheda United to Flancare Park, with both games to be broadcast live on RTE television.

Derry, the 2002 Cup winners, will take on Waterford at the Brandywell on Friday October 1st. The game, with a 7.45pm kick-off, will be refereed by Dublin official Paul McKeon, while the Longford-Drogheda clash will take place at 4pm on Sunday October 3rd, with Cork referee Alan Kelly in charge.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    Buzzin' already!

Just out of curiosity, who does everyone want to win the Cup? Any preference?

If not us, I'd pick Waterford.

From the perspective of the good of the Eircom league I hope Drogheda, provided the runners up don't get into the UEFA(I am not quite sure does that only apply if the cup winner got into the CL). I want Ireland's European co-efficient to be pushed up and want our best clubs in Europe to do so and I do not think the other three clubs are much up to the task.

If the runners up do get into the UEFA then I hope anyone but the Drogs win as I am not too fond of Doolin.
