    Thumbs down FAI / SFAI -> Facebook = Cop Out

    Facebook Age Policy

    Given that the biggest group of stakeholders in schoolboys and junior club football in this country do not fall under the age group permitted by facebook, is it negligent of associated and affiliated clubs to not only opt out of providing information to members via a website, but to actively encourage their membership to join a website which they are not permitted to join. Not to mention it being a form of social media that some people think it best to steer children away from until they are much older than the permitted age, given the threat of cyber-bullying that is becoming more prevalent in Irish society.

    Do the FAI and SFAI condone this practice?

    I assume everyone knows that in order to view a facebook page you will need to have a facebook account, as opposed to a website where the information provided is accessible to all who wish to view it the way it is presented by the club.

    The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    Thats not correct at all. You can view this page, for example, without a facebook account;

    I think the point was that there are lots of clubs who have facebook pages that cannot be viewed unless you have an account. Either way, its still social media.

    Was your point that clubs were forcing kids to sign up for social media? SOmething that's clearly wrong.
