They should. I'm more worried that the FAI won't include a demand for MNS/highlights at all when the contract with RTE is renegotiated this year/next year.

LOI fans need to put pressure on the FAI to ensure it's high on the agenda when the time comes.

From the link given above (http://www.rte.ie/about/en/press-off...agueofireland/):

In a further commitment to Irish soccer, RTÉ Television are set to increase the coverage of live eircom League of Ireland matches as agreed in the new contract extension announced recently by the FAI. Beginning in 2010, the number of live matches shown by RTÉ will grow each season culminating with 33 live matches (one-per-week) in the final year of the term - the 2013 season.
Are they showing 33 games this season as originally promised?!

For those that would normally watch from parts of the uk - Have the games been blocked on sky or freeview?

    Just watched MNS.

In relation to Dundalk v Derry- and not in any particular order

1/. No pen 1st pen for Rossi's tap on the back of Rafter as i said without seeing evidence post match on Friday.Evidence is there now and that was no pen.

2/.Maybe or not pen after Sully protects himself, hands given but have seen them waved away in the past.

3/. A poor ref tries to make ammends for earlier mistakes as he sends off Shane McEleny for a nothing foul on Mulvenna as Dundalk break forward.

No hard feelings towards Derry, thay got the breaks on the night when we were on top but the panel on MNS agreed that the ref made a few fook-up's at crucial times in the game.

Few other fook up's made by refs in other matches too and the MNS panel agreed that those too were awful!

I thought the second penalty was a definite penalty. Other 2 decisions were laughable though.

Will be well worth a watch tomorrow night to see 4 excellently taken goals at the Carlisle today. You should (mns pending) be able to see three very similar long range free kicks by Shane Tracy

Took a day off work and took some time this evening to catch up on the last two episodes of MNS. Wasn't particularly looking forward to seeing Alan Kelly feature but my god did he go on and get way too much time. Following that up with the an example of Champion's league football and some Scottish team and Juventus and Kelly couldn't comment on it. Surely they might have run through the script before hand and kept the conversation relevant to what he could talk about. A combination of him being an absolute bore and a Cork accent and I never caught a word of it anyhow.

I read somewhere recently that the new international deal being trumpeted recently by RTE didn't include League of Ireland games. Be interesting to see their commitment to "domestic soccer" now. It should prove very telling.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

I just noticed on one of RTE's ads for Premier Soccer Sunday that they have 'fans' of different premier league clubs in studio now while filming!

    Sickening!!

I remember they trialled that a couple of years back and it was a bit of a disaster. Are they doing it as a regular thing now or a one-off?

I actually find it quite amusing. They look utterly ridiculous - like a poor man's diddly-eye-doh Soccer Saturday, or whatever that laddish rubbish is on a Saturday morning on Sky.

It is worth noting though that outside of our little LOI community, it is us who would point this out that appear ridiculous.

Going to watch it for the comedy. Grown men in oversized EPL tops, we this, we beat youse, we are short a few players, etc etc etc, and the same guys probably hardly darken the door of a LOI cub, and my favourite bit, they usually all jump for joy when England lose.

It will be interesting to see MNS tonight if they caught what happened between Rice and Elding.
From my vantage point it looked like if one had to walk then both of them should have been sent off.

Quelle surprise their camera didn't catch it and they used grainy footage taken from a mobile phone instead.

The penalty pats got was an absolute shocker from the ref. Fagan hand balls it and pats win the penalty. I didn't think the ball crossed the line either in the cork/bray match, at least not until it was kicked out of the keepers hands. Hard to tell if Patterson was offside but from what I heard Patterson said himself he was offside. That's three shocking decisions over the weekend that cost teams points. I know the standard of reffing isn't great but my god it has been truly awful this season, totally inconsistent.

Those regional quirks are highly amusing alright - good job no one speaks with any trace of an accent in Cork like.

Don't mind him being regional. Clueless is the problem. Contrast with Cunningham who's excellent
