I think he's good enough. I also think he should be very close to our starting XI. We complain about a lack of dynamism in midfield and players not showing for the ball. Quinn does a lot of what we need.

Quinn hoping for PL move.

Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
Yeah, but for a team that struggles to find space between defensive lines a limited give and go type player like Quinn can be the difference.
Reports that one Premier League club and several Championship clubs are interested in him. Consensus is that he would only be guaranteed regular football in the Championship. He's 29 and this is potentially his last big contract so you can't begrudge him if he takes an offer from a Championship team. Reading have a good manager and will always be in or around the playoffs so it wouldn't be the worst move. Good luck to him. I hope he gets a move to a Premier League team and silences the doubters who don't think he can be anything but a squad player. It seems that Hull fans think he should only be a squad player at PL level yet whenever he does start they rave about his performances more often than not. Livermore, Huddlestone and Ramirez have all driven Hull fans mad with their inconsistency but Quinny always has a good attitude and is at least as consistent if not as naturally talented.

Quinn still at Hull two days later but fears are growing that he will not stay.

Linked with Cardiff. Reading remain interested. Two year deal on the table at Hull.

Having a medical at Reading according to this. Deal could be announced today according to this.
I was hoping he could get a Premier club but I suppose at this stage of his career getting a promotion-seeking team is the best he can hope for.
I don't think an EPL move would necessarily make him a better player. He is what he is and on my opinion should be very close to starting for us. I think he brings more presence and is more accretive than McCarthy and Hendrick.
feckin hell Stutts. Its far too early in the week for those sorts of words.Accretive: The process of accretion, which is the growth or increase by gradual addition, in finance and general nomenclature. An acquisition is considered accretive if it adds to earnings per share.

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
It's not just a financial term. I'm surprised the passage above defines it that way.
I just thought you misspelled 'creative'.
He brings something positive to the team but it's not enough for our needs.
Wherever he ends up going, we might need his accretion in the forthcoming games so hopefully he's given a responsible first team role to keep him in top shape.
signed a three year deal at Reading: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/arti...n-2512748.aspx
I agree with the first bit, he's had his bit of top level football now which will stand to him, so I suppose the most important thing is regular football. I don't think he should be in direct competition with Hendrick for us really and I wouldn't consider him for the role Hendrick played against Scotland. I think McCarthy is a far superior footballer than Quinn, if I was dropping somebody for him it would be Whelan who is, am, what's the opposite of accretive? Not entirely serious but I actually like that proposition, legs and energy over discipline and positional awareness, not that McCarthy falters in the latter. It could be a decent partnership.
I think Quinn is one of those players that's easy to appreciate, he always appears busy and makes himself available for little one-twos and that. With McCarthy and indeed Whelan, sometimes their contribution is less obvious. McCarthy has been disappointing in some aspects, no point in saying otherwise, but I still think he'd be every bit a big a loss to the starting XI as Whelan would be. He's probably a victim of our own expectation levels to some degree also, whereas it seems to me like Whelan is benefiting from the exact opposite in recent times, certainly on here.
McCarthy's potential and performances for Everton makes him undroppable for me, certainly in the short-term. His worst performances for us aren't really much different to what Whelan has been offering up for seven years or so. Whelan has peaked while there's still a strong hope that McCarthy will burst into life and become exactly what we need.
