Full time, fair play to Bluebell, good result and their keeper went off injured at the end too!!

The FAI in their infinite wisdom pencilled in JUNE 2ND for FAI Senior Cup weekend knowing full well that the 4 FAI Junior Cup Semi Finalists would be involved thus couldnt play that weekend.Sheriff play Avondale this Sunday as Avondale are finished their season so no probs. We Kilbararck have to go to Cork and because of our schedule as listed above could nt play last weekend.Because Corks fixtures are sorted there was no available weekend to play the game, and in fairness to the FAI,they were very helpful and pencilled in Mon August 5th 745.Weve asked the FAI and Cork to bring the kick off forward so we can get the train down and back and bring a decent support but as of yet weve heard nowt.People on bank holidays will go to football early and have their few scoops after game IMO.Ive talked to some Shels and ST Pats fans and they always say the same thing-Play the games early on Bank Holidays as very few go the games when theyre on at 745pm/800pm.
Cork reckon they get a bigger crowd at night so it looks like 745pm so!

I find it amusing that you are surprised the FAI couldn't give a monkeys about it. The LOI is just a necessary evil for them. So you can imagine how much interest they have in the rest of Irish football.

We'll definitely get a bigger crowd at night. Unless you are likely to bring a few hundred it doesn't make sense for us to change our time to suit you. We've already lost out by having to play the game on a Monday as it is.

Does anyone think Bluebell beating Athlone is really a shock? I would really only consider a shock if a PD side went out to Non lge. Also, I'd say quite a lot of the LSL sides are probably a better standard than most of the FD these days. Possibly

It is a shock in my eyes. Saw Bluebell this season, weren't that great but surely Athlone must have a better standard? Still a very good result for them.

I saw it mentioned on Facebook that Athlone players played in the Salthill 5's between the cup games- it's little wonder they were not in the best of shape last night if that is true.

On the general question of standards- we always hear lots about how Intermediate or even Junior teams could hold their own in D1- but when they actually meet in the cup it's usually the D1 side winning at a canter. And I've seen players who tore up intermediate leagues bomb in D1. Others of course make the grade- all clubs have made great finds at times.

Cobh beat Pats CY, Longford beat Pike. Fairly handily too. The LSL (and other junior/intermediate leagues) like to think they'r ebetter than LOI teams, but they're really not. Any team can win a one off but you only have to look at how Salthill, Wexford etc have struggled to amke the step up to LOI football.

Yes they are fair points, and a lot of the LSL sides do have notions of themselves ok.

Well, I don't know much about the LSL, but Waterford United put a MSL side to the sword last year in the same run of pre-season games that saw them getting hammered by all other (LOI) opposition.

There's no doubt that most MSL/LSL teams would have a couple of players who could cut it in the FD, but as a team, no chance.

Next Wednesday night will be a good test.

Avondale v sheriff should be decent, intermediate champions v junior champions, Avondale going to look to stretch there unbeaten run to 46 games which is an amazing record.

After peterpan's post that result was almost inevitable.

One of the fat arsed FAI bigwigs must be over negotiating with Man Yoo u-12s for a friendly in the Aviva that night.

I'd say it's more likely the clubs said they'd no-one available for the draw as hald the league si flying out for a holiday on Saturday morning
