MICK O� DONNELL has given UCD the lead after only 10 minutes to send College�s hopes soaring for a shock win.
O� Donnell volleyed home from 12 yards after John Martin crossed from the right. O� Donnell�s effort beat Michael Devine low to the keeper�s left hand post to get Paul Doolin�s men off to a flyer.
Anthony Buckley returns from suspension as a replacement for Declan Daly as Cork are forced into a change as they look for the victory that would see them join Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers in a three way split at the top of the eircom Premier Division.
Daly is ruled out with a stomach muscle injury.
Robert McAuley, meanwhile, comes in as a straight swap for UCD skipper Tony McDonnell, who is suspended, after fielding an unchanged line-up in their last eight league games.
UCD were good value for their early goal.

I cant figure out how Hartigan was kept on and Liam Murphy took of a great player like James Mulligan..Whats that about?

Jimmy was beaten to every ball that came into the box, UCD defence were big lads and he was just out of the game with the way the ball was coming in, but when he had the ball, as usual he gave 100%. City were non exsistent on the wings in the first half, and very poor in the second. Carey while good in defence, i thought was having a very poor game going forward, we have seen alot better from him in the past. The passing in the first half was really really bad. Bennet and O'Grady gave away so much ball it was unbelievable. Bucks gave away alot of it aswell. Hoggie had a good game. I dont know what the tactics were today but City were very slow to bring the ball back on the deck and play football at some stages, Something when horribly wrong today, just hope they get it right for next week.

Shels have Bohs in two weeks time with UCD in between.

Shams have Pat's then Galway.

We have Monaghan then Derry with Derry playing Dundalk in between.

There still is a chance of going top in a month, there are 13 games left in all, I think Shams will fall away and Derry, Shels and ourselves should still be there, if Pats get the points back we could be knackered, as it is they should be top of the table if the didn't break the rules. We can afford many more loses, that is for sure.

C'mon City ............ Let the carnival being. Sunday 30th Dec. City v Derry to prove they are contenders for the title.

I totally agree with City Rant. Hartigan did absolutely nothing up front. Mulligan was doing all the closing down and the running off the ball and the hussling, while Hartigan watched from a distance. Honest to God, Hartigan is just in a daze when he's on the pitch. I genuinely can't understand why mulligan was taken off. He was getting in behind them in the first half and was looking dangerous. As for the claim that Jimmy was beaten to every ball that came into the UCD box, then it's Micky and the back fours fault for hoofing the ball upto him in the air. It should have been going to hartigan from there, not that it would have made a difference. If we had Colin P and Mulligan upfront for the last 20 minutes, they could have played off of each other, as CP would have had more wins in the air than Noel obviously (can't do worse then 0. Remember the corner in the first have that Ryan took when if noel just jumped he'd have scored?)

Ollie got into it in the second half and himself and hoggie were good, but as for Hartigan, I'm not going to waste anymore energy typing about him.

How could a team on such a fine run of form play like that yesterday. The tactics were bizarre to say the least. Murphy abandoned the 3-5-2, thus the width normally provided by the wing-backs was lacking. Anthony Buckley was poor and the less said about Coughlan and Hartigan the better. Mulligan was the only player who gave his all in the first-half, while Cahill and Horgan improved in the second-half. Yet it is Mulligan who gets substituted!

What is it about UCD. I'd hate to see how many points we've dropped to them in the last few years. It would be even worse to think of how many shots we had on twrget yesterday!

Good to see Stephen O' Flynn on the touchline again, pity he didn't come on though.

hartigan was a disgrace, and bucks had a 'mare. tactics were all wrong. hoofing the ball to jimmy mull when he's up against the freak delaney?

gunther's mess- lets hope he gets it right next time.

The bottom line is we are going to have to get some result against Derry. From what I'm reading hopefully there is only one way the team's performance can go - up (hopefully though you can never be sure). The crowd looked pretty small on the news but hopefully a larger gate at the Derry match and a bit of support will get them going. Now if only we can get rid of Hartigan...

The crowd wasn't actually that small if one considers that it was UCD!

I said it on here a few days ago, Clieve Delgiant would have Hartigol in his pocket and thats how it turned out to be, we needed to have Colin P. trickery, pace, finishing and pure genius on the pitch against tough opposition but Murphy does have the best of intentions in not throwing him in too soon.

Lads the only reason City lost on Sunday was a lack of motivation and to a lesser extent a lack of respect for UCD. After the win against Rovers the players thought all they had to do was turn up at the Cross and collect 3 points.

I thought Cahill was poor in the game on Sunday and to be fair he did have a few good moments I felt that Flannagan played better when he came on. People are bound to comment on fresh legs etc but if I was Gunther I would not stand for this lack of enthuasiam from the players.

However I do believe(and hope)the problem will be fixed by Sunday 4 the Rovers game and hopefully we'll win the cup as I'm sorry to say we may have thrown away the league !!

We've lost the magic six games - shows you how unmagical that figure is in reality and how wide open the league is this season. But I believe that it will come down to our game with Shels at the Cross - should be the vital six-pointer.
