The world is truely upside down there's a ruck going on about Celtic and rangers when we could be having a go at the Occupied territories
No, not if you're young enough to use it as a stepping stone to better things but for the likes of Hartson, who had been with a top class side like Arsenal, he was on a steady decline down to the SPL with a further drop down the divisions the only thing in store for him.Originally Posted by eirebhoy
Let's keep things in context here.
For Miller it seems to have been good.
For Hartson it was retirement.

Where am I now? I'm over here,
I've got those empty pockets and I can't afford a beer.
But you do know enough about them to know that no goddam Keltic, Seltic, or bleedin Celthick player could play for them. God bless you.Originally Posted by Peadar

Just guessing, but I'd say it's latin. In Spanish it is Celta (pronounced with a th or s). French it is Celte (pronounced with an s). Italian it's Celtico (with a ch). All these are latin languages and use the the c before e or i with s, th or ch rule as English is supposed to follow. In Spanish, for example, it would be Quelta if pronounced with a k.Originally Posted by Peadar
In German it is Keltisch (pronounced with a K). Irish it's Ceilteach (with a K). The only defence is that English is so mongrelised that the only rule is that there are no rules (eg 'ough' as in through, cough, although, plough, etc.)
BTW, another interesting fact from the Indo-European languages for you. The same word for the number 'two' is used by both the most westerly language in the group and the most easterly. 'Do' is two in Hindi aswell as you well know it is in Irish. I found that one out one night when I asked for two Cobras to go with my Lamb Jalfrezi, Pillao Rice, Chana Dahl and Garlic nan with extra garlic and the bloke shouted into the kitchen for the bottles.![]()

This is the cooooooooooooolest footy forum I've ever seen!
There's been one or two players who played for both down the years.Originally Posted by Junior

I'm well aware of that, it seems our friend Paeder doesn't, although in fairness I believe he was talking of the current team (still ludicrous though!)Originally Posted by Littlest Hobo

All I said was that Hartson isn't good enough to get into the Rangers team.Originally Posted by Junior

He does. SPL top scorer with 6 i think. I think Hartson falls somewhere between the 2 arguments. He's not "great" but certainly not rubbish. He's a good strong forward. I'd have him up front with Robbie if he was Irish but only due to our lack of options.Originally Posted by Peadar
yep he does. 6 goals in 5 games so far this season. Im not saying he's a world class striker, but he knows where the net is, puts himself about and is a decent target man. Unfortunately I am less inclined to say that about Morrison, Connolly etc..etc...Originally Posted by Peadar
He'd get in my current Irish strike force if he was Irish. Its only an opinion.

If Morrison keeps up his 100% strike rate of a goal in every qualifying game I don't care how bad he is or who's better than him.Originally Posted by Junior
I've nothing more to say on Hartson.
He doesn't play for Ireland, he doesn't play for a club I follow and he didn't score against my beloved Barca so I couldn't care less about him.
So long as you guys are happy with him, that's the main thing.
The happiness of the members on this forum is my primary concern.

Mark Hughes is trying to bring him to Blackburn BTW. There are supposedly 4 other premiership clubs interested.
