Like he says the drop in crowd the next home game could very well suggest there were more then 400 Athlone fans.
There was alot more than 400 from Athlone. Oh well all that matters is that we beat them

I dont even care about the crowd but you have had a go at the poster while completely ignoring parts of his posts. Making fun of him while you yourself were being stupid.

Just like i never said it wasn't crowd fluctuation (in fact i said it could have been) and you went off on one about that. And why is it doubtful was there any official confirmation of only 400 Athlone fans?

If all things were equal, which there were not, so to extrapolate like that is bs. Rightly or wrongly, the feeling after the clasico was that it was season over, which would also explain a big drop in attendance, and there were a lot of Longford supporters that hadn't been for years at that game. I also know amongst my circle, that a lot made the extra effort to get to the clasico and couldn't get away the next week. Plus we had loads of volunteers that day, are ye even including them?

You simple cannot extrapolate attendance at subsequent games to then work a split of an earlier game, as there's too many other variables. If it even really fecking matters! Athlone have serious issues with the way they go to war over a 100 either. Do they all drive big cars too?
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.

Lack of attendances from FAI Cup games. 550 at Harps v Cobh per extratime. Would have said only around 400 myself.

Dundalk v Limerick, 1,321. Think this was the 3rd or 4th lowest of the season.

After the last couple of seasons, it must feel really good to say that. Delighted to see Dundalk bringing in the fans again, even if it is at the expense of my club.

Indeed, only two League attendances have been lower all season. Great news for Dundalk really. I'd imagine they're set for a nice looking profit come the end of the season.

Well people forget, it really only was last season that was a recent disaster, both of Foster's sides of 2010 and 2011 started very well, and played some decent football, they just couldnt defend!! The 2010 side led the table for 4 weeks, and played in 2 rounds of Europe, the 2011 side got to the Setanta Cup Final, but both years finished dreadfully, finishing 6th and 7th respectively and the seasons were both over by the end of Aug.

Crowds dropped off from Sept for both year, this year they're the opposite with the average almost 1,000 more than 2012, so ofcourse its great to see. The surprise for last year was that the average was so 'high' at 950, as it was that bad of a year. Men v Boys pretty much all year.

This is the first summer season we have enjoyed really, even if we win nothing and miss out on europe, it will still be looked back as a fantastic year. Hopefully we might get some reward, I think we might, we'll see, fair bit to go yet though.

As for end of season, there was an interview recently with the chairman on local radio, if crowds maintain as they are, and if some can grow even more, projections are to break even, or very small loss. New owners have everything paid out of 12k per week, includes all bills, running a tight ship it seems.

Possibly prize money will see this move to profit, but none of that would have been budgeted for.

Not trying to stir anything but I heard at the weekend that, if budget is not upped significantly next year, Stephen Kenny may be available.

Under contract for another year with an option of a third.

Not trying to stir anything - but maybe you should mix with more reliable types.

Or maybe you heard he has made a suggestion to the board/owners that if the club wanted to push on next year, the budget will probably have to be increased.

I would say that would be a very reasonable and achievable request, as long as its within the range that the club can afford.

Id say he would be looking for a few more quid for players alright, hardly surprising considering how well he's done with a small budget this year.
Thats when the real pressure builds, to achieve at least what you did previously when you are given more to spend.

Jesus christ, is €12k a week actually such a small budget? 20 players, manager, backroom staff, all on a full time wage.

It would appear to be the right budget for Dundalk at the moment, as the club is expected to break even this season. This on the basis of a projected average attendance of 2,000.
I do wonder how some other clubs are speculated to have higher budgets while having lower attendances.

The budget for next season should benefit from new revenue that will be brought in from the new 500 Club membership scheme.

Hopefully this additional revenue will allow Kenny to progress the squad in a way that meets his ambition.

That was a pretty ballsy projection given they struggled to get 1,000 to most games last year.

Not really, after 2 games last year it was clear the squad was virtually FD Standard. The game was up after Series 1 and everyone knew it. Very few players remained from 2012 for this season, only 2 are currently starting, plus new owners, new manager, whole new entity really, they knew they could sell this to the fans.

Last year was a joke, I think 400 turned up for the last league game, but it rose to 1,500 for the playoff.

Comparisons were like night and day, 2012 v 2013

    Nigel

I dont think he squad is Full Time, maybe some are but a lot would be on modest wages compared to at least 2 or 3 other clubs.

The fans knew something really different was starting this season, we may not win anything this season, who knows? but the quality of football is up there with the best I've seen in 30 years, and thats what the fans are coming out to see.
