It's done by a draw unless it's changed in the last couple of years. Sligo had the same advantage when they hosted Monaghan.

This is the second final this year where Drogheda have to play Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.

It is the logical decision but it is also unfair.
Maybe they should play it in Oriel Park?

Typical Drogs. They probably requested it be played in Tallaght just to spite Dundalk.

Not if they are playing Shamrock Rovers. We have our fences to think about.

When's the last time the league cup final was played at a neutral ground?

It's hardly Shams fault Droghedas ground isn't up to scratch

I think they should of played it at Tolka. Would be good to have it at a neutral ground. Am i correct in saying this is rovers 4th home final in tallaght?(2 Setanta finals, 2 league cup finals)

Not this season, but last. Maybe not the best place to have it but still for a final its ideal for it to be neutral.

Tolka is a total dump. Finals should be played in decent stadia.

    Agreed.

They should also be played in neutral stadia.

Well even Dalymount would be preferable, or the RDS.

Slightly misleading stat in that three of those away wins were for Premier Division sides at First Division sides.

Like everything else with the FAI, we have absolutely no idea, but I believe as recently as Sligo's win over Monaghan it was decided by a coin toss.

    Bit harsh on Matthew Blinkhorn.

FAI imposed. We had been told after Drogheda bet Derry that whoever won the match on Tuesday night would be at home in the final.

Home final for youths was first not done on a coin toss as it was their first major final, Ferrycarrig was improved a bit for it. Nobody was bothered as it was seen as fair award for a great achievement for a new club. Precedence was set then that FAI chose. What would be a greater irritant is if the League Cup final was, this year, played in Tallaght had the final involved Sligo with Shams knocked out rather than the Showgrounds (or Oriel of course as the favoured nominated alternative ground for the Drogs where the EA Cup would have been presented to them before the match).
