That was an excellent result. Even if it was a weakened Dutch side, our team wasn't exactly at full strength either, missing Cunningham, Hendrick, Egan, Brady and Henderson. If that U-21 team had gone away to a lower-ranked European side and lost 3-0, there would surely be murmurings of discontent and concern around these parts.

Weakened Dutch side or not, this is a fine win, delighted with the result.
Normally I wouldn't be into reducing an excellent 3-0 win against the Netherlands,
but I see they were playing in Croatia last night, beating the home team 3-2.
Bit tough for them 2 games in 2 days???
Summary of game from RTE.

Then, basically the Dutch had their first choice squad out in Croatia and we played some other bunch of underage players.
Yeah but most of our first choice were scrubbing it for the Seniors, or were injured.
Positive's Geysir, positives. The sun must be due to rise again soon enough up there yeah?
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
If we win, we're not happy. If we lose, we're not happy. So all in all we cant win. QED
As I said, it goes against my grain to be a reductionist. The Dutch u21 squad was in Croatia, minus their u21 stars who were in the Dutch senior squad.
We played some other team. However, without doubt, there's a welcome different groove in the air with the u21's.
And daylight is grand these days in the northern extremes, we have daylight at 18.00 and our best friend, the Gulf Stream, still flows around the shores.
Save your caring and thoughtful sentiments for SkStu, who is truly in a dire straights situation and showing all the signs of it![]()
the storyline of the guy getting dressed by the door is me...
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
