    switching shels game

looks like switching the game from tolka backfired. 7000 at the game, that kind of crowd would have been much better suited to tolka,,better atmosphere and all that

The lux value for the flood lights aren't high enough in any of the eircom League grounds to be able to play it in any of them ... Had to switch to play it !!

Needs to be 1000 Ev for fixed cameras and 700 Ev for mobile cameras.

You only need 500 Ev for an A license.

Sorry, thats 1200 Ev for UEFA Cup.

But RTE were the only ones covering the match and they have no problem with the lights for other (domestic) games. Might have mattered if the French TV were covering it but they forced a switch to 5.30 (lights?) before pulling out.

The match could have been switced to Tolka but I think the FAI must be digging Shels out on this one. They said they needed 12k to break even on Lansdowne Road. They only got 60% of that. This fixture has been badly handled from the off.

Still, I hope they can manage what would be a great result in France to go through.

like i said in the other thread... shels had loads of time to install new floodlights and improve the media section... not much else had to be improved!!!

With hindsight its easy to say they should have played the game in Tolka with such a small crowd in landsdowne road.

I thought there would have been a lot more supporters and Shels would probably got a far better result if they had played at home.

maybe Shels have plans to move from Tolka in the next few seasons so it would be pointless in spending money on floodlights and improving facilities. Its all experience any way.

I dont suppose that Shels/ The FAI are planning on spending ay more money on Tolka if they are gong to be moving to a new ground. The only way that this might happen is if they do get into the group stages of the UEFA.

Not up to RTE ... it is UEFA !!

It is rumoured that Tolka wont be Shels gorund in the next few years. But nothing written in stone yet !!

    I hope the FAI

dont bail them out.Shels over estimated the goodwill of the sporting public and gambled on the TV deal befor it was signed. The game would have sold out in Tolka but thsts Shels own choice so there is no reason for Ollie to get another handout a la the Sligo cup game or the registration fiasco.

In fairness to Shels they played very well against Hadjuk and Depor so it wasn't outrageous to expect 12,000 to 15,000 for the Lille game.

It was an awful night as well which put off a few people.

In fairnness there were many here who predicted that there would be a low turnout given the location, kick-off time, opposition and it being the UEFA cup rather than the CL.

    Thumbs down

This no comment on match itself or anything but 7000 is pathetic effort in city of million +.

Weather may not have helped but since people in stands shouldn't have affected that much.
