Limerick FC Supporters Trust .... whats the craic? Are there any plans for one?
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Would be a good idea to get one going now though, even though theres no immediate need. POS wont be funding the club indefinitley, who knows what'll happen when he decides he's done all he can for Limerick.

What is actually involved in it? Is it just a fund raising group or what?
Now would probably be the best time for it with John O'Sullivan around he would surely be a huge help.
I'll admit my ignorance as to how ST's actually get set-up from the beginning. How much capital are individuals asked to put in? In exchange for what? Should they actively try and gain control of the club?

They basically follow co-op principles - one person, one vote, so in return for your investment you get equal voting rights and thus influence over policy. As for the level of capital set, that will vary according to each individual trust, so just as FORAS is €240 p.a., some of the English equivalents charge roughly £20 per member. Of course, supporter ownership is far from a panacea, but unless such groups aim for control, there would seem little incentive to charge for membership.
he was a founder member and the first Chairman.
judas though....
Its actually €120 now. Its actually worth investigating now and getting it up and running so that its all in place because it can be a fairly lengthy process, i could be wrong on this but i think it was just shy of 2 years in the end, the exact time doesn't matter, just to be aware that its a good while so if something happened (please god it doesn't) then its there and functioning.
It could be set for just a €5 a month per member, and keep chipping away, and build up a war chest. Its just to have something on the back burner and a group of willing individuals who will step into the breach when needed. John O'Sullivan knows exactly what is involved and would be a great help to ye.
