If you want some cause for optimism Ireland have not been beaten away from home since 2007 (if you exclude the Euros).
Trap talks to the Indo:

I'm having difficulty generating any level of interest in this much less excitement. Trapp's joyless creation is making even a match against England unappealing.
Walters on the wing....good grief.
There is no such thing as a miracle cure, a free lunch or a humble opinion.
This is the one game I'm not calling for experimentation... Friendly in name only!
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Need two away tickets.. Any chance??

Reidy could still play a role for us, would love to see him back!

Would b great to have Reidy back, even as a squad player. Great pro.
Hodgie basically slapped in face after Cole refuses to speak to media after being named Captain.

Cole's still going strong, an excellent player.
But he should be no bother for Walters.![]()
Brian Kerr has written his usual "Trapattoni's 4-4-2 will get shown up" article in today's Times: http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/socc...land-1.1409810
I look forward to his "England expose weakness of Trapattoni's 4-4-2" or "In spite of the result, Trapattoni's 4-4-2 exposed at Wembley" in tomorrow's edition, depending on the outcome.
The game is live on ITV with highlights later on in the night.
Roy Keane is one of the pundits, fans better not sing if we lose.
Townsend will be there too. Will be interesting to track Keane's expression as Townsend struggles to decide who to call "we" before eventually settling on both teams.
I heard Matt Holland being interviewed about the match, he was effortless in the use of the Irish "we". I guess when it comes down to a game between Ireland and England, those 'anglos' who had declared for us, have no issue with siding on our side of the fence.
I've put a fiver bet with a few lads that Adrian Chiles asks Keano if it's a big regret not playing England at Wembley with Ireland and Keano says something like England are just another team and Wembley another stadium and that he never viewed England as anymore of a rival than the Dutch, Germans etc..Keano won't know what to do tonight - 2 teams to be contrary about, while Andy does his best to give one big love in to the two teams and Southgate and Dixon just sit there agreeing with everyone!!
