The history of the left is littered with great examples of how they would rather spend the time in violent theoretical disagreement rather then fight the opposition. You of course will be familiar with the PSUC/PSE and the FAI/ POUM shooting at each other in Barcalona when the Spanish countryside was littered with more enticing targets. In pre-revolutionary Russia they almost made a sport of this, and indeed in our own dear Ireland the Officals, the INLA and the IPLO seemed spent as much time working out ways to brutalise each other than any of their percieved enemies.
