The first two through suspension with Ndo injured. Three injuries all in the one position, bloody hell at least it's a position we're well covered in. This will be the team according to the Shelsweb preview...

Shels Vs Lille: Preview

Wednesday 15 Sep 2004 --Fenlon down to "bare bones"

Shelbourne face Lille in Thursday evening’s UEFA Cup first round first leg with a somewhat depleted squad, with manager Pat Fenlon describing his situation as “down to the bare bones”.

Alan Moore and Stuey Byrne miss out through suspension, while Joey Ndo is ruled out, being unable to complete training this morning at Lansdowne Road this morning. Thomas Morgan and Alan Cawley will join Jim Crawford and the two wide-men Ollie Cahill and Wes Hoolahan in a 5-man midfield, with Jason Byrne operating as the lone striker in Pat Fenlon’s now familiar European formation.

The only good piece of news is that the Reds defensive unit, which has maintained clean sheets in all three European home games to date, will line out once again intact. One or two players from the U-21 squad may have to sit on the bench

The squad continue their preparations together out in Citywest where they will spend tonight and tomorrow. The Shels manager was unaware of media reports stating that new signing Juan Sara was ineligible to play against Lille, saying that the Argentinean never figured in his plans anyway as he is still some distance off match fitness.
That's a pretty lightweight mid field really. Morgan isn't exactly a world beater and Cawley has done little in a Shels shirt, hopefully they can step up for us against Lille, we'll need them.
