Athlone Town Sign Multi year Agreement with Spanish Sportswear giants, JOMA

Athlone Town are delighted to begin 2013 by announcing that the club have agreed a multi-year contract with Spanish Sportswear Giants JOMA for the provision of playing kit and leisurewear. The deal marks JOMA’s entry first partnership with a League of Ireland club and Athlone Town are delighted to be the firm’s flagship club as they grow their brand in the country.

The deal sees Athlone Town FC join the JOMA ranks alongside International clubs such as Valencia, Real Oviedo, Getafe, Fiorentina, Standard Liege and CFR Cluj. The deal will see Joma partner with the club on the renovation and improvement of the Club Shop at Athlone Town Stadium which will see an improved and consistent selection of quality merchandise available for purchase.

No offence to Athlone but their "flagship team in Ireland"? Until they get another club. Hate all this PR/Marketing guff.

'Flagship' is actually the perfect description when you think about it.

I'm completely the opposit. I'm sick of clubs (and the league) not taking EVERY opportunity to talk any kind of positive news up. What harm will it do Athlone to try and create a bit of bizz about a new kit deal? If it gets 5 lads talking about it enough to go a game they're already winners.

Same goes for signing to be announced etc etc. Put a bit of spin on it.

Fair play to Athlone getting the deal and talking it up. I'd love to see them doing well again. It's a long way back, but during the O'Riordan days what hope would you have given for us being competitive at the top level?

No major problem with it I suppose. Certainly not with announcing the deal. I was just a bit cranky at that hour. I dislike buzzwords though as a rule.

As said above, despite the corporate buzz word nonsense, good luck to Athlone with this, nice to see a L.O.I. side, in particular a second tier provincial one, in the public eye for something positive.

Floriana - he brought in an Irish kit firm then and left them seriously on a limb. Umbro to Carlisle (though I think they did okay) Who has the Joma franchise for Ireland? It is a good brand though, do teamwear have it?
