I really dont think he is top tier level. He was so poor in scotland , so awful on the ball just seemed to spread panic everytime he was on the ball. How he is ahead of delaney as 4th/5th centre half is hard to understand

    Some great defending from him

Thought he marshalled Fletcher really well that night

Fair enough. For me he gets his head on things and lauches in to tackles but thats why he is at the level he is at. In scotland he was cheif culprit for just lashing at things or giving suicidal balls to ward to be just hammered up the line. He drove one out for a throw in the first half for what was a routine pass to coleman and went off bollicking coleman and hendrick embarrassing just because he couldnt pass it 10 yards and set the tone of fear and anxiety that gripped that display. O shea and wilson set a completely different tone the last day which allowed us to at least play some football unlike in scotland

He's not great but he wasn't too bad that night for a guy with so little experience at that level. He defended well enough for the most part which was the main thing. I think it would have been bit much to expect him to set the tone for anything other than keeping the ball out of our goal, in what was practically his debut, in a seriously high pressure game. O'Shea and Wilson's experience at both Premier League and international level is incomparable, it goes without saying that they're the preferred partnership.

To be fair to him also, a lot of his errors for Derby actually come from maybe trying too hard to set a tone and get things moving. He's fairly determined and ambitious in possession and it often backfires, but a lot of the time it serves his team well also. I'd fear for him at PL level though I must say, especially playing for a flimsy outfit like Newcastle.

He was wrong to bollock Coleman, but going from a couple of nervy touches to your conclusion is a monumental leap in logic.

Fair enough Charles. We were so panicked and he radiated fear. Look he has had a fine career and everyone speaks of him as a great pro and he is a dedicated irish man who has been commited to us since the 18s so hopefully for him he gets move. For me he is at best behind Clark and mc shane for cb for us

The Guardian are normally quite reliable for this type of thing but seem to state as bid hasn't been made. Credit West Brom and Sunderland with interest too so it's looking like Keogh might have earned the chance to test himself at PL after all.

And regardless of what some think if say fair play. It's not as if he's done it the easy way.

He has his critics on here. He seems to have more than his fair share of plaudits here and in the media and in football in England. And who'd have thunk Damien Delaney and Paul McShane would have done as well as they have done in the PL in the past 2 seasons?

I don't think that's necessarily the case. It seems Delaney wasn't guaranteed a starting place by O'Neill so felt it better to focus on extending/safeguarding his club career. O'Neill seemed to be understanding. I'm not criticising Delaney as I know he is into his mid-30s now and overcame a life-threatening injury, but he might well be ahead of Keogh in the pecking order if he was willing to play a squad role for us.

    Critic I would say.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Meanwhile, sources on Tyneside were mystified by reports overnight that the former Derby boss wants to bring Rams and Republic of Ireland defender Richard Keogh to St James' with the club's focus in that department lying elsewhere.

Keogh 'not moaning' about losing captaincy

Seems like a really positive guy, somebody that constantly reminds himself (and maybe everybody else) what he's achieved. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing but whatever works for him I suppose.

He looks completely deranged 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time he's dementedly begging managers to call him into the ireland squad.

    Keogh just likes to talk.

That looks like a glasgow kiss bruise on his forehead.
Has he ever been tested for banned substances?
