I want Trapattoni to go.
If you could make one somewhat realistic wish for the team in any way, or player connected to the team, or hopefully connected, or one you no longer wish to see connected, or one youngster to rise from the ashes and contribute in 13, etc.... what would it be?
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
I want Trapattoni to go.
"We lost because we didn't win"- Ronaldo
Was just talking last night with a mate about how as a country we have always punched above our weight in producing world class or very good players (not so much the last 10 years), but how after these guys retire, what they can give to us is lost. I would love if we got the Denis Irwins, Ronnie Whelans and Paul McGraths involved more in our underage set ups, whether it is as coaches or as advisors in sessions to the younger lads. I know great players rarely make great great managers or coaches, but this has worked brilliantly on the continent. Even guys like Kenny Cunningham and Gary Kelly who played at a high level could give us so much. Perhaps the FAI has tried to get these guys involved and they haven't been interested, but it always struck me as something that was missing from our set up.
an away win against Sweden.

WC Qualification.
Some improvement on the shambles of the last six months.

A full and speedy recovery for Marc Wilson.
Mr Trapattoni to stay with Marco to succeed him after we get back from the WC in Brazil.
Dunne and SSL to return ASAP, we need them.

Robbie Brady to become a regular (although he is probably too exciting & skillful to get in to a trap's team)
I want to see form being rewarded, with young and in-form players (Coleman, Wilson, Clark, McCarthy, Brady, Meyler, Pilkington, and Long) given significant game-time to further develop at this level, at the expense of the dead wood in the squad. A return for Gibson would be great too. Qualifying is a big ask, but if we have our strongest team on the field, there may be an outside chance.
Would also like to see further development and game-time for Conor Henderson, Greg Cunningham and the Villa youngsters. A new goalkeeper, and a few more centre-back options, would also be nice, even if we have to go down the Granny-rule route. Finally, please, please, please no major injuries to key/younger players.

David Connolly to get one more chance.
A centre midfield.
Ok, a midfield of Coleman, Ireland, A.Reid & Pilkington at some point...
And is Kevin Nolan still eligible?
Seriously, for Trap. to realise his own mortality, sooner, rather than later.
the doc to turn on St Ledger

I see David Meyler and James McCarthy as the future of the team. With Duff and Given retired, and Dunne looking likely to join Robbie Keane in the MLS, the baton will be handed over to the younger generation over the next twelve months. I know they won't all turn into the players that we hope them to be, but I can see a midfield four with Meyler and McCarthy in the middle of the park, and Brady and McCarthy on the wings. McCarthy is the real deal already in my opinion, but I hope that Brady and Meyler stay injury-free and continue their development.
A healthy Marc Wilson establishing himself as our first-choice left-back would be nice too. We haven't had a dependable one for a long, long time.
For Coleman, McCarthy, Meyler, Long, Wilson, Joey O' Brien and Clark to become first team players and the backbone of our team for the next decade. To get rid of some of the deadwood off the squad. Keogh, McShane, O'Dea are not international footballers. To see the likes of Hoolahan, Pilkington, Gibson and maybe Enda Stevens included in every squad with a decent chance of getting a game. For our next generation to make the breakthrough and get regular games at a decent level. The likes of Conor Clifford, Conor Henderson, Samir Carruthers, Aidan White, Shane Duffy, Greg Cunningham, Jeff Hendrick and Conor Hourihane need to be getting first team football now if they are going to fulfill their potential and become Senior internationals. We do have some decent players and the next 12 months will make or break a lot of them.
