Do you seriously think the FAI saw these guys' results and went "ah grand, sure we'll send them on to a consultant in a few months"?

Trusting that FAI medic got the earliest available appointment for the ECG and echocardiogram tests, the FAI should have had a 10 seater jet on standby to whisk them out to Qatar as soon as the all-clear was given.

Surely the FAI don't just simply refer these boys to the HSE for further care, I'd hope that they would take a more hands on approach and ensure they get quick assessment. Judging by the article, the likely scenario was that the ECG showed a big heart, so HOCM (a la Marc Vivien Foe) had to be ruled out. This can be done promptly with an Echocardiogram and a consultant to confirm. Don't really see why it should have taken so long. .
Screening is a really interesting topic. To the general public it sounds like it is a great idea but in most screening situations it is very far from clearcut. Professor Baum in the uk introduced breast screening in the uk 15 years ago in a move that was considered life changing. I think he may have been knighted even for it. On the face of it it would seem a huge advance. Professor Baum now wants screening to be stopped as he feels it has not cut mortality and has led to unacceptable levels of unneccesary mastectomies and anxiety for women. I heard him describe breast screening introduction as the greatest regret of his life. Really challenges our simplified view of the world

Good to see Wolves haven't severed their Irish links with Mick's departure.

They had McGann of Limerick over on trial also recently.

This group at under16s now played well. lovely evening in killarney nice football. There are some of the goals on the rte player saw them the other night cant find them now!The masterson lad is so tall looked good in killarney has a nice turn of pace and decent passer. I assume he will move over to the pool this summer.
