Eight 2012-13 EPL Players Who Once Played in the LOI?

My brother thought up the following trivia question and posed it to me at the weekend:

"Name the eight players to have played in this season's English Premier League who have also played in the League of Ireland."

I thought it was a good'un and managed to name all but one. Can you fare any better?

    (No cheating!)

Did Meyler actually play LOI? I had a notion he hadn't played a senior game when he left.

Edit: Apparently he appeared twice for them. Long did only once. Both according to wikipedia.

Wow, I had no idea Jones played for Shels. Doesn't sound like the happiest time of his career:

He had loan spells at several clubs; in the 2001–02 season he played two games for Irish club side Shelbourne F.C.. He made his professional and League of Ireland début on 5 October against local rivals Bohemians at Dalymount Park and conceded 4 goals in a 6–4 victory one of which was direct from his own goal kick.

Was it Dermot Keely or someone that terminated his loan after those two games saying he'd never amount to a half decent keeper or something?

I don't think Long ever played in the league to be honest. I think he played agsinst Pats in the League cup but not 100% on that.

Meyler came off the bench a couple of times and played in a league cup game at Salt and Vinegar Stadium.

    According to Wiki:

When ready, Long was called into the first team squad for the 2005 season when manager Dolan was replaced by Damien Richardson, and the new manager awarded him his senior League of Ireland début on 25 March 2005 as a substitute for Joe Gamble

From memory, Long came on for the last few mins of a game against Bray (I think) and nearly scored a header. I was left thinking, "why didn't they bring this guy on earlier!?"

Just thought I'd post this here as well.

It's a piece on the League of Ireland's "conveyor belt" of talent: http://www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepa...eyor-belt.html

IF Giovanni Trapattoni is to be believed, ‘there is no league in Ireland’.

Any manager in Britain worth his salt knows better because the domestic game has provided a conveyor belt of talent across the Irish Sea.

SunSport has trawled through the squad lists of the 92 English league and 12 SPL clubs to assess just how big an exporting market the League of Ireland has been.

And our figures show there are a staggering SIXTY-ONE players on the books of 48 different clubs.

    ....
