Its very dissapointing that limerick havent named a manager as of yet.pre-season training is near and not many players signed for the new season.its seems to be top secret who is line for the managers job.all we can do is hope it happens soon.
They have been in talks for 7 or 8 weeks now,IMO they are going down the wrong road because they cannot afford managers from UK or players, that's obvious,it is a bit of a joke now at this stage, players are going to look elsewhere, and El-petro I'm afraid ill have to agree with you,

Not too worried. There was never going to be an announcement over the holiday period and we have a couple weeks yet before I would start to consider it a big problem. None of our better players have gone anywhere else yet and they should all be getting in shape by themselves. We are headed to the premier and a season in a great stadium. Pat scully is not the manager so for some we are better already. Its been a long time since things looked this good for us. Happy New Year!
God only knows whats happening?they would want to get a move on or else it will be a disaster before the season even starts.
Once it's sorted before pre-season it should be fine. If it comes to getting someone to temporarily take pre-season it sends out the wrong signs to perspective players and last seasons ones.
Happy New Year lads. Here's to a hopefully successful one back in the premier.
Heres a person who got out into the fresh air over the christmas. Totally correct in everything he says. Limerick never ever do anything before christmas so how this one is any differant is beond me. Just a hint to the way the club is going. Limerick have replaced a kick start two coach with a pro level coach. And thats before the new manager comes in. We shall be fine and expect action this week as off field staff will be back to work.
Happy New year everyone
I'm not too concerned either, I think some on here are being a bit over critical and I expect if the club makes an announcement in plenty time to give a decent account of ourselves in our first season back up top. That's all that's required here remember. As someone who has followed the club since the late 80's, I find some of the comment on this thread a bit harsh over the last days, no, its not ideal, but overall the club is strong and getting stronger than it has been in a generation and all credit to those involved. I have every faith this will be dealt with in a way which continues that progress.
Happy New Year also, to all of you.
About the kick start two & pro level coach thing. The way I look at it is, they replaced a league winner who obviously has a good working relationship with players, with a coach who has a poor record and has been described by people as a poor man manager. Coaching badges don't mean much to be fair.
Just cos Scully is gone doesn't mean the club are in a stronger position. Right now, it's in a weaker position than it was 3 months ago with pre season supposedly starting next week and 6 players signed...so you can see why there is so much negativity there.
what a statement kingpinfirstly the kick start two lad was not a coach he was a goafer for scully and how you can say a pro licence replacing him isnt a positive move is some statement because badges dont really matter all over the world if you dont have em you cant coach or manage so everyone is wrong??? beckham or scholes cant manage or coach without them.. also the man with the poor record has never seen a budget or worked in a professional environment with limerick as it was allways a shambles budget wise groundwise and playerwise compared to the way it is now.. give the man a chance he is a gifted coach and good players will respond to that including the kids coming up thru the acadamy.. lets just hope we get a proper gaffer that wants it on the deck and get the best out of gamble bradley gaffney and co
its not about being critical its about running things properly.for the last month or more we have been fed snippets of news about phil brown getting the job and peter taylor etc.still no news on the official website.for everyone involved from supporters to club officials and players, things should be sorted out asap.pre-season is already here and from what i have heard not many players signed up for the new season.i heard recently that brian o callaghan had re-signed which isnt much to shout about and he wasnt even up to first division standards and was unlucky with injury.limerick needs a manager soon and try and get a few experienced players signed up, if he will be allowed to sign guys.the under 19 players wont be enough to help the cause.it would be a positive thing for the club if it were sorted soon and try encourage some new support to the club.its not professional to take so long in getting a manager.didnt matter whether it was christmas holidays or any other excuse.get it sorted soon.
Kind of contradicting yourself there. In one post you are saying the club is a shambles and getting worse by the day and the other you are saying sea bird is talking sense saying getting in a pro license coach and hopefully a manager over him is a good idea and to give them a chance.
No not till we find out what is actually going on. Everything at the moment is speculation. Only a week ago people thought Kilbane was 100% in the job now no one knows the story. We have secured Thomond park which was huge as without it we could not play premier football. If the club was shambles then we would not have any management in place and not have a ground to play in next year. Meeting licensing requirements is more important initially than the manager.
I wouldn't say this is some kind of omni-shambles just yet, I'm just more concerned with the lack of information. I too had heard that Kilbane was close to a deal, and I wonder what/if something has happened there.

Just because you have badges, it doesn't make you a good coach. Which is my point, if you can say 1 guy is a better coach than the other guy because he has more badges, then you have amazing powers of deduction. Unless you've played under both, you or I can't tell who is a better coach, which is why I said about Kerleys record...if you think he's a better coach because he has gone further with badges, then I think he's a worse coach because he has nothing to his name. If he was "gifted" as you said, you'd imagine Athlone or Waterford would have done better.
Budgets play a part, but just because there wasn't a great budget there doesn't mean things shouldn't have gone better. Mourinho won a champions league with Porto from having an organised and disciplined team. 2 sides to every coin. If he is gifted like you said then I'm sure people will respond to it...if he's a poor man manager then I'm sure people won't respond to him.
Didn't every squad he's been in charge of as Limerick boss respond to him? We had some of our best results and performances with him in charge and a very young squad. Don't think you can question that side of his record.
Comparisons with Mourinho are beyond ridiculous.
