Shamrock Rovers were on one of the sky sports shows before but it didn't help them hit the 8-10k mark.

If we could hit the 3,000 mark it would be excellent for us. Keep any kind of an average near 2,000 and we are flying it first year back. Easier said than done though. If we lose to Cork on the opening day the limerick bandwagon is so fickle we could go from 3,000 at a game to 1,000 because of one result. On the other hand if wee beat cork in front of a decent crowd on the first day in Thomond park it will really get the ball rolling for the club.

We'll get 8'000 if we win the league. Until our inevitable triumph, somewhere around the 2000-2500 is way more accomplishable.

Was that a joke? Because I'm not quite sure.

Anything above 2,000 a game should be widely celebrated amongst Limerick fans. Thomond or not.

8-10k? You think Limerick could increase their attendance by 1000% for the first game of the season?

Not a hope. Unless we got to Europe and the last stages of the qualifiers, pulled a huge team like ye did with Juventus or actually made the group stages.

It was a joke. I'm one of those Limerick fans with managable expectations.

Very disappointing when the interviews started nearly a month ago.

Id love to know what actually happened with the whole Phil Brown thing was it all just a waste of time going after someone we had no hope of getting or what.

You get a sense that Limerick might have been Brown's safety job if nothing came up in England.

It's a really bad state of affairs and I think the lost time for signing/resigning/training/coaching/set-up will bite Limerick in the ass.

if you get 3,000 at the first game, its because we've brought between 1/3rd and 1/2 of your total crowd.

No one will bring a bigger away crowd than we do on the opening day.

Do you honestly think there is any hope ye will bring 1000-1500? The fact ye did before means nothing as that was mainly due to the fact that it was the only place in the country you were allowed to drink that day and a lot were coming for the Munster game anyway.

That may be the case but we have found with games one week you might have 400 and another 900. Depending on results out crowds can double if not more. The limerick band wagon can never be underestimated. 1,400 came out against Wexfprd Youths because the trophy was being lifted that night. That's nearly 3 times our average crowd over the last few years.

again the last time yee came up yee brought 700/800 with ye and that was partly due to the fact that limerick had pubs open on good Friday due to munster having the law on their side up these part

We pulled 2500+ against Monaghan Town in Hogan Park on the opening day of the Danny Drew regime.

I've no idea what we'll pull first game in Thomond but the above sentence tells you all you need to know about the pointlessness of trying to guess.

Sigh at the Cork fans looking back on the Good Friday bandwagon as if twere some achievement.

I was at a League Cup game in Turners cross that there was 200 people at, I was at a league game in Cork that there was 6000 people at,

Cork people are as fickle as any other people. In general Cork should expect to get crowds four or five times the size of Limericks because the population is four or five times the size of Limericks.

Same actually, I'd love to know why such a big effort to get him. The stories that came out afterwards were rudiculous. For instance, I heard he was offered mad money in LOI terms (over 2000 per week), offered accommodation, car, allowed bring in some of his back room team... If any of that is true (and I would say its been exaggerated massively) then the club would want to have a serious look at their priorities.
To me, it seems like they're so intent pulling in a big name that they've forgotten about having everything else in order. I just hope that isn't the case and they've an excellent reason for waiting so long... The silence definitely hasn't helped though.

The fact we were a joke of a club before doesn't mean it is ok to not do things properly now. We are moving forward and are a better club then those days now.

Yes we have had worse off seasons but we have had far better ones quite recently and i don't think going up to a higher level for the first time in such a long time is the best timing to have a not so good one. Granted if we get a manager in straight away after xmas and new years holidays then this will all be forgotten and ill look foolish but if t drags on any more then that and it will really become a worry.

I think theres a strong possibility we'll bring about 1000. Especially if we beat Cliftonville. First game of the season, handy away trip, the whole Thomond Park think has people interested, plus never underestimate how much we hate traveling to Dublin. We brought 5 or 600 to Waterford a couple of seasons ago for a middle of the road game and Limerick is a handier trip from the City. Better roads.
