He must be excellent so
He's a James McCarthy waiting to happen.
Hopefully a good preseason will mean a good season ahead. We really need young CBs to emerge!

It would help if they weren't all crocks; Egan, Duffy, O'Brien and Hoban are probably our best young center backs and they have all missed years of their careers to injury already. Kiernan has settled in surprisingly well at Wigan though and Kevin Long didn't do too bad at Burnley last Autumn, though I fully expect him to be loaned out to a League 1 team next season.
I really hope O'Neill selects Duffy in the Autumn and by early next year, Hoban and Kiernan, may be ready if they continue at their current rate of progress.
Better to bring people through with a bit of upside rather than expecting a 28 year old to suddenly learn how to do the basics of defending and finally develop upper body strength.
And you've brought up Richard Keogh in a completely irrelevant thread again.

Doesn't look like Hoban has missed a step, despite being out of action for over a year. Good to see.

Hoban could join Irish contingent at promotion chasing Brentford.
being watched by O'Neill this weekend: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-30933185.html
Not going well for him, 2-0 down at half time. I don't think O'Neill is there to see him anyway - looking at O'Dea I assume.
He was taken off at half time.

And now, four goals for Watford in 12 minutes has them 4-2 up.

O'Shea and Wilson it is going forward, so.
Make that 5-2. Not a good day for Hoban.

7-2...holy crap. Inspired substitution it seems.
Poor old Darren O'Dea...

O'Dea may well have screwed up his chance of ever playing for Ireland again. He looked terrible for several of the Watford goals.
That's a dramatic conclusion.
Sent off in injury time against Wolves but still managed to help his team come back and draw 2-2. Watford climb to third after Middlesbrough are beaten.
Live on SS1 at the moment against Middlesbrough. He's been very impressive so far standing up to Bamford as Watford have been really under the cosh, but as I type they've just taken the lead against the run of play. A win will take them top, for a couple of hours at least.
ya he looks good playing on the left side. has a good left foot on him. they've been saying Bamford has a lot of these type of games. its definitely better than the Ipswich game the last day but still no great amount of skill on show.
