Think with Kavanagh they needed him off the wage bill, on big money by all accounts and the other three just weren't upto it but city need two strikers in quick or there gonna get sucked deep into a relegation battle.
Roddy tried to sign Danny Ventre on loan as per today's Mirror.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
There was rumours before the season that Ventre was supposedly moving to Harps. He's not getting a lot of game time at Sligo and a loan move would be good for him. Athlone are on the up, and a push for promotion might get him back into the swing of things.
https://kesslereffect.bandcamp.com/album/kepler - New music. It's not that bad.
Acted the maggot with regard to his contract - tried to sign while injured and now can't get a game. Won't get into the side ahead of Cawley and won't get a contract next year so he might as well move. Had a terrific season last year but that was his first decent season.
Ventre got injured while on trial in England in our off season. Has not been the same player since. It flared up again a couple of months back. He is back training with us again but he has a lot of work to do between now and the end of the season if he has any thoughts of getting a contract next year.
Apparently Kavanagh had a few bust ups with Dunne and that's why Cork are letting him go.
There has been a mixed reaction among Pats fans about the signing, I'm personally a big fan of his. I just hope he is not coming in to replace Forrester who could be gone by the end of August.
Here on a technicality.
I really don't get all the hype over Forrester. Anytime I've seen him play he's never stood out as someone who could make it a a higher level. Few nice goals and fancy flicks every so often but have never really seen him play a consistently high standard (yes I do realise that if he stays he'll score the goal to win the league against us at towards the end of the season........)
