    Setanta Cup 2013

The Irish Times report on Derry v Pat's from last night finishes "... The Candystripes held out to claim a place in next season's Setanta Sports Cup"

Is this true or did the journo get confused because it was Derry's last game, forgetting that Cork and Bohs would finish above them with a win next week?
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Well it makes no sense. Derry are finished their league campaign for the season, we are 3 pts behind them with a better goal difference. If we were to beat Pats, we'd go ahead of them in 5th. Bohs are also 3 pts behind them with a game in hand and currently an equal goal difference.

So Derry could theoretically end up in 7th if us and Bohs both won.

(On another note, we have officially won the 'draw' table for the year - no one else can catch us now for the number of draws, yay!)

However, it may be true to say that Derry have already qualified before last night. They're playing Pats in the cup final. And there's a Setanta place for the cup final winners. Since Pats are guaranteed to qualify through the league, what's the Setanta cup policy - does the place go to the cup runners up or next in the league table?

Edit: It must be next in the league table since Shels didn't qualify this year but Bray did.

If Rovers beat Sligo and Cork beat pats, with a swing of 4 goals in Rovers favour, who get's 3rd?

What if Shams win 1-0 and Pat's lose 15-12?

Ridiculous comment. Shams won't keep a clean sheet.

Luckily for us, both Pats and Drogs will be chasing wins, so hoping at least one of them will get a draw.
Setanta qualification would be a great tonic to the season we've had.

It was in 2012. I've been looking for confirmation that it was returning for 2013. Haven't seen much on it

The Irish League teams would be Linfield, Portadown, Cliftonville, Coleraine, Crusaders, Glentoran (if it goes ahead)
