Well done Derry, a great game and plenty of drama - nice touch of Devine to mention Doherty's sacrifice on the day. Absolute nutter aka character Doherty imo and glad he has a medal to dedicate to his grandfather's memory.

Delighted for Derry. Great craic in the Derry end altogether.

Derry prolly shaded it and could be in the league shake up if they continue to improve next year, and so congrats, and Pats can count themselves unfortunate not to have got something not to have come the season empty handed.

Pulsating game.Well done Derry and hard luck to Pats (and Shamrock!).

Heard that a large proportion of the Derry fans were friends/family of just one of the players...the Greacen 2000.

After a dire first half, really enjoyed the game. Good atmosphere at the match and must say it looked more than the 16k attendance quoted. Most entertaining game I have been to in the new LR (although thats not saying a huge amount).

Must say I was hugely impressed with Derry's McNamee, thought his touch was superb as was his general play. One to watch for the future

I missed most of the first half (lucky for me by the sounds of it!) Second half and extra-time were great entertainment. And it keeps Shams out of Europe so its all good

Well done, Derry. Enjoy Europe! Rovers didn't deserve European football so zero complaints there.

Didn't get to see this at all, is it available online to look at tomorrow? Sounds like it was a good one.

Edit: Its up on RTE Player already !!!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

McNamees corner kick for one of their goals was top notch... patterson was immense for derry and was a superb signing for derry.. if he was fully fit all season derry would have being in the running for europe in the league.. pats tailed off badly in the closing wks of the season.wonder was that due to the trevor croly effect?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Really enjoyed the match. For only 16,000 in a 50,000 seat stadium both sets of fans made it a great atmosphere.

First half was brutal but the second half and et were excellent to watch. St.Pats played the nicer football but Derry seemed to want it that bit more on the day and were excellent on the counter attack.

Derry weren't doing much better before Patterson's injury, were they?

First half was not the best its safe to say, but from then on it was a memorable FAI Cup final. As a neutral is was very enjoyable to watch.

Was up at the game and agree that after a poor first half it was a real belter of a match for a neutral. Great atmosphere and credit to both sets of fans. Surprised that Pats didn't start with Russell, his ball in for Forester's header chance just one example of what he can do. Pats played the best football and I feel sorry for their fans, but it was clear that overall the Derry players wanted it more.

Well done Derry, unlucky Pats. Three set pieces and two mistakes = 5 goals. But all in all a good game. as for the orginisation of the game. CRAP programme for a €5 total ****t. €6:30 for a burger and bun, €3:50 for a packet of wine gums ffs. Total lack of respect shown to fans on our side of the stadium with the second level of the stadium left in total darkness. Pre match atmosphere drowned out by rubbish music and dublin 4 toff spouting rubbish. Goals met with music thus drowning out crowd noise. Pitch of the year award at half time

I think one of the analysts (I think Dolan) summed it up about Pat's that they sometimes fail to create enough chances for all their possession and don't really have an out and out goalscorer.
Patterson looks like a quality striker any time I've seen him but has been very injury prone and missed pretty much half the season. Bar Rovers, Derry were probably the other team who underperformed in the league and finished strongly in the last few weeks, so it wasn't much of a surprise.

It was good to see such an entertaining cup final, again! Hopefully people didn't switch off after the dour first half.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

No. Imagine the Player database has crashed again, from what I've heard from friends at RTE that happens a lot.
