Report: Finn Harps 1-0 Cobh Ramblers

    Finn Harps 1-0 Cobh Ramblers
    McGrenaghan 58

A Paddy McGrenaghan strike put Finn Harps top of the eircom First Division table as they ruined Stephen Henderson’s first match in charge of Cobh Rambers.

McGrenaghan's shot from the edge of the box somehow squeezed under the body of 'keeper David Hennessey and rolled into the net to break the deadlock to give Harps a deserved victory as they missed a number of chances early on with the best being an Eloka Asokuh header that hit the bar.
Cobh might also have scored in the 57th minute when Keiran O'Reilly shot into the side netting from close range while Alan Keely cleared another O’Reilly effort off the line before Ramblers were reduced to ten men in the last minute when Robert Brosnan was sent off.

    Teams:
Finn Harps: Gallagher, Asokuh, Minnock, Boyle, Keely, Mohan, Crossam, McGrenaghan, Breen, McHugh, Gorman.
Subs: Connolly for Breen (62 mins), Funston (66 mins), Ferry for Asokuh (85 mins).

Cobh Ramblers: Hennessey; Hastings, Meade, Brosnan, Byrne, Mulconry, Tynan, Warren, O'Reilly, C O'Shea, Laugheed.
    Subs: Falvey for Hastings, M O’Shea for C O’Shea (69 mins).

    Referee: H Whoriskey (Meath).

    Harps back on top

    Finn Harps 1-0 Cobh Ramblers
Paddy McGrenaghan was the hero of the night at Ballybofey as his second half goal against Cobh Ramblers helped the home side move back to the top of the eircom First Division.

Cobh ensured that the home side had to work hard for all three points as they fought tooth and nail for possession around the midfield sector of the pitch.

The match was scoreless when McGrenaghan had a pot luck shot from distance, and much to the amazement of all present in squeezed - David James like – under the body of ‘keeper David Hennessy before nestling in the back of the net.

The lead was just about deserved as Eloka Asokuh had only been denied by the woodwork, although Kieran O’Reilly probably should have opened the scoring for Cobh earlier in the second half, but his shot hit the side netting.

Cobh continued to press with O’Reilly seeing a late effort cleared off the line, but in the end their chances evaporated after Robert Brosnan saw red with two minutes left to play.

Finn Harps - Gallagher, Asokuh (Ferry 85), Minnock, Boyle, Keely, Mohan, Crossam (Funston 64), McGrenaghan, Breen (Connolly 63), McHugh, Gorman.

Cobh Ramblers – Hennessey, Hastings (Fulvey 69), Meade, Brosnan, Byrne, Mulconry, Tynan, Warren, O’Reilly, C O’Shea (M O’Shea 68), Laugheed.

    Referee - H Whoriskey (Kildare).

Exclamation New manager ! Same Result!!!!

    What can you say??

It's a striker we needed. It's not a new problem.

By the sounds of the Goal given away, maybe Dave isn't match fit??

    Its a striker we need

Iagree with Youth Team we badly need a striker .--i am told our two or three strikers on Sat .Night were supplied with plenty of ball --the team really played very well --werenot to far away and with Sweeney and Darren Murphy back for the Bray Game i predict a win
