    Irish Amateur Squads

While I believe Gerry still hasn't seen any Cork teams play, I could be wrong.
Great to see more Cork lads involved.

    from the FAI website

Republic of Ireland Amateur team manager Gerry Smith has named three squads for the upcoming double-header against the Defence Forces on Saturday, October 27, in the AUL Complex and the Amateur International against England in Whitehall on Saturday, November 3.

With one eye firmly on next year's UEFA Regions Cup qualifying tournament in San Marino, Smith has picked players from Munster and Leinster for two games against the Defence Forces at the end of this month. These games will also assist the Defence Forces as they prepare for their upcoming international campaign later this year.
The game against England will give Smith an opportunity to cast his net further in his attempt to assemble the strongest possible squad for the UEFA Regions Cup and the game will also give him an opportunity to size up the English representatives Jersey who will be part of the Regions Cup qualifying tournament along with hosts San Marino and Northern Ireland.

The first game against the Defence Forces will kick-off at 10.30am and the squad is: Brendan O'Connell, Ken Hoey (Rockmount FC), Adrian Walsh (Carrick Utd), Ross Carrig (St. Kevin's Boys), Paul Murphy, Alan Mc Cabe (Sheriff YC), Mark Roche (St. Pats CY), Pat Mc Garry, Shane Watters (Janesboro FC), Greg Kelly (Mayfield Utd), Chris Barbour (Mountview Utd), Luke Kelly (College Corths), Eugene O'Brien, Leighton Gleeson (Courtown Hibs), Brian Murphy, Danny Long (Avondale Utd), Jason Murphy (North End Utd), Barry Kavanagh (Duleek FC), James English (Ayrefield Utd).

The second game against the Defence Forces will kick-off at 1.30pm and the squad is: Lee Murphy, Sean Murphy, Gavin Mc Dermott (Sheriff YC), David Meehan, Kevin Dempsey (Crumlin Utd), Jon Meleady, Mark Mooney (Kilbarrack Utd), Carl Dennison (Phoenix FC), Noel Murray, David Sommers (Tolka Rovers), Reese Mc Anteer (Glebe North), Carl Forsyth, Ger Bambrick (Mount Merrion FC), Daniel Matthews (Collinstown FC), Darren Lacey (Wayside Celtic), Shane Strich (Bluebell Utd), Alan Bergin (Firhouse Clover).

The squad for the game against England will train in Dublin on Friday, November 2, before facing the English the following day. The squad is: Lee Murphy, Gavin Mc Dermott, Keith Dunne (Sheriff YC), Morgan Cranley, Noel Murray (Tolka Rovers), Anthony Wolfe (Middleton), James Walsh (St. Michaels), Ian Cherry (Bluebell Utd), Ian Mc Neill (Cherry Orchard), Neil O' Brien (Mount Merrion), Karl Caulfield, Mark O' Sullivan (Avondale United), John Brophy (Phoenix), Michael Keogh (Killester United), Christopher Butt (St. Mary's, Cork), Gareth Logan (Malahide Utd), Danny Loughran, Martin Creamer (Crumlin Utd).

Great to see so many Cork lads in the squads. Does Gerry Smyth come to matches or is it judged be Michael Ward games ?

He only picked players from Leinster and Munster. Is there a reason behind that ? Surely there's a few good lads in Ulster and Connacht that should be considered ????

Marky Sull and Danny Long scored in the first Michael Ward game, Buttsy in the second so it's hardly a coincidence.
if Smith is to leave the Pale then he might for that weekend, not sure if he was there or not.
The Corinthians lad is Luke Connolly not Kelly. Freudian slip by the Jackeens no doubt.
