    Today's fixtures (13/10)

Sligo have apparently sold over 5,000 tickets for their game vs Pats. Not bad for a town of 20,000 people!

Hopefully today marks the last League of Ireland fixtures SD Galway or Mervue will ever play. How fitting that they take each other on at Fahy's Field.

    Saturday, October 13, 2012

Sam Maguire cup will be making a visit to Finn Park this evening. Donegal All Ireland winning team are special guests of Harps tonight.

Also a draw at 11/5 in Finn Park is well worth a few quid.

Bohs 10/11 vs Dundalk seems high given Dundalk's situation.

Salthill are 4/1 against Mervue tonight which indicates that Mervue have reallly underachieved this season. I think Pats can win in Sligo 3/1 to keep the title race alive for another week.

I like the camera set-up at the Showgrounds (with the ones behind the goals) but does anyone else find the lines on the pitch hard to make out?

Also, if SD win tonight it must be the only time they'd have won 3 in a row.

Pats need a goal before h-t, surprised that Russell is not playing for them as their midfield are very poor.

Enjoyable game with a good atmosphere. (After last week's dreary Cup semi's). Sligo looking good.

Nasty end to it, Venture O'Connor sent off, bit of bad feeling over a drop-ball situation it looked like. Sligo lucky enough to win it, but I thought it was a penalty.

3-0 now, Barry McNamee with his first senior goal just a minute into the second half.

Limerick one up from a tracey penalty, but captain pat purcell, collecting the First Division trophy in an hour, has been given a straight red!

    Limerick, never easy

Harps were miles ahead of Longford tonight. By far and away the better team. Longford will really struggle in the play-offs.

Really great game of football though in Finn Park. Great viewing, which is a relief after how bad we were in Galway last week.

Nice way to round off the season.

The less said about that second half in Tolka the better. On another note, it was an abysmal home attendance, even for Shels. Felt like entering the UCD bowl except with much worse facilities!

That was very much our second team. We used four u19s and one of them was only 16. Though I don't disagree that we'll struggle anyway, I wouldn't judge it on last night.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
