I was scanning the match thread on the AVFC FB earlier & a number of them saying a GK likely to arrive in Jan. If that doesn't happen, its all in his hands, if he can hold it![]()
Bunn back in the Villa side for the last three games, conceding only twice as Villa picked up seven points and have started to move back up the table. Might be difficult for him to break into the Ireland team, with Randolph now playing regularly in the Premier League, Westwood established at Sheffield Wednesday, Rob Elliot closing in on a return from injury, and a couple of talented youngsters within sight of first-team football. But on the other hand, if Colin Doyle, Danny Rogers, Gary Rogers and David Forde can all get call-ups in the past year, should there be a squad place available to Bunn?

New loan keeper goes straight in the side today V Spurs for Villa.
Has he even declared for Ireland?
Can't say GK is an issue that needs scouting with three young goalies vying for the gloves.
Is Bunn even current? He needs to be raisin his game.
He declared enthusiastically a few years ago - http://www.herald.ie/sport/soccer/bu...-29172087.html - saying "I have a very strong Irish connection. My dad's mum is from Maynooth, my dad considers himself Irish and so do I,"
As regards whether he merits a call-up, he's playing at the same level as our two main back-up keepers, Westwood and Elliot (who is still out injured), and has roughly the same amount of Premier League experience. He's also playing at a higher level than all the following recent squad call-ups - Doyle, Rogers, other Rogers, Lawlor and Forde, so why not give him a run-out against Iceland or have a look at him in a post-season friendly
I'm all for giving people a look and beggars being choosy comes to mind buuuuuuuuuut Mark Bunn is not a good keeper. His appearances for Villa have generally been pretty poor, outside of the odd save. No major clangers, he just gives off a really below-average vibe.
Now Villa have Sam Johnstone in he could be third choice, I think Villa may stick with Gollini as a back up as they seem him as a future option.
Ou-est le Centre George Pompidou?
