I had a quick look at Glendennings twitter and I saw nothing regarding your comments.
If Given was going blind, would you not think that his club's medical staff would know about it and hence he would not be number one for his club and they wouldnt have signed him on a long term contract??
Can always finish his career as a ref.
If Barry Glendenning said it in the podcast then I suspect it was an attempt at humour to explain Shay's recent mistakes. With his Offaly accent it is often difficult to distinguish serious comment from sarcasm. He can be quite entertaining though.

No no, there's more to this story. Barry made a comment that was edited out of the podcast due to legal reasons and then he went on twitter to explain. There's a big thread about it on the football weekly facebook page.
Looking at his tweets he said he was unhappy that his "theory" on Given was edited out of the podcast. If it is a theory then there is no story - it's just something Barry has thought up. he has never been a big fan of Given anyway. This sounds like nothing to me.

I didn't put it in the Shay Given thread on purpose as I figured there was a good chance that this was just a joke, though I am actually worried that there might be some small thread of truth to the rumour.
