Liam Kelly's time definitely has arrived (ironically at a juncture where we don't have a game for six months or so). Kelly should have been utilized in the last campaign - he is very creative, holds onto the ball and generally gives the opposition problems. My lasting memory of him came at Old Trafford last season in the Cup where he was the equal (for the first hour or so) of any United player on the pitch. He has had a bit of a dip in form this season but he seems to be back on track now. With the level of creaivity among Whelan, Hendrick, O'Kane and perhaps Hourihane, not that high, Kelly is definitely a player who can provide a midfield platform for Ireland and one we cannot afford to ignore for very much longer.

I know you're being a little flippant but it's still worth noting that all but one of Wes Hoolahan's caps came when he was in his thirties, Jon Walters scored all but one of his fourteen goals after his 29th birthday, John Aldridge was thirty before he scored for us and is our joint fourth-highest scorer, while Robbie Keane racked up 29 international goals after turning 29. So if Judge does show better form than Kelly, Ronan, Browne, Manning etc. over the next twelve months, then he should be considered ahead of them for the next Euro qualifiers as he's probably got two, maybe three, campaigns left in his career.

Sounds horrendous. Hopefully McCarthy's is more like Coleman's break than Judge's.

22 minutes off the bench for Brentford's first game of the season, a comfortable 5-1 win for the bees at home to Rotherham. It was 3-0 when Judge came on. Hopefully he'll see a good bit of action in the coming weeks and months.

Slightly off topic, but who would be everyones choice of number 10 for this campaign( if that formation is played)
    Judge?
    Robinson?
    Hourihane ?
    Or other?

If Judge regains his pre-broken leg form, he is a must in the Irish set-up. One of the best players in the Championship and was about to be signed by Newcastle before the injury. Fingers crossed for him.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Has torn his ACL. He's 34, and will be 35 when he recovers, this might be the injury that retires him

There's an awful lot of ACLs being torn lately. Curtis, Kerrigan, Judge, Colm Whelan. Others too maybe?

I had a quick google for other names and found this article instead - Ireland’s rate of ACL injuries among highest in the world because of GAA and rugby

I have told this one here before, but it's a favourite story. I was watching Sacair Beo on TG4 many moons ago, and a commentator in full flow as Gaeilge constructed the amazing sentence, "Bhí sé amach anuraidh le anterior cruciate knee ligament injury." Some things transcend language. If we're especially prone to them (like German Shepherds get hip problems) then there must be an Irish term for them. (Google translate says gortú ligament glúine cruciate roimhe, which seems barely better than the commentator.)

I can't read it (paywall) and 12ft.io doesn't solve it. Any chance of pasting it here please?

Same paywall here I'm afraid - I just saw the headline and said that was enough to link.
