    Exclamation Have your say?

It will be business as usual tonight in Athlone. It's a pity Dave has decided to step down. All this team needs is a striker, and we would be flying in the top half of the table.

The amount of draws we have had just proves that the team is performing and we are not capitalising on the goal scoring front.

The jig saw is nearly complete and I think that there must be some other reason Dave has decided to go

Hill still in charge for Town trip

Cobh Ramblers manager Dave Hill will select the side to face Athlone Town at St Mel’s Park on Friday night, despite handing in his resignation earlier in the week.

Hill resigned from his position following Athlone’s 1-0 win over Ramblers in the FAI Carlsberg Cup at the same venue last weekend but will see out his notice at the club in an unusual situation for a football manager.

Cobh had defeated Athlone 5-0 in the league earlier in the summer but were defeated 1-0 at St Mel’s Park to end their hopes of progressing to the latter stages of the Cup competition.

Having won just three of their 21 league games to date, Ramblers lie eighth of the 12 teams in the First Division, fully 24 points off the promotion zone and just six above bottom side Monaghan United.

Athlone could leapfrog their opponents in the eircom First Division if they get the right result against a side that will struggle after all the problems off the field.

The midlanders are expected to choose from the same squad as last weekend with manager Stephen Kelly once again having to so without Padraig Moran and Graham O’Keefe through injury, while Darren Maguire and Robert Brosnan are suspended.

With the second series of games in the Division almost complete, both sides will be keen to move further away from the bottom of the table and the prospect of re-election to the eircom League.
