Wud you not worry with Wes in centre mid against the stronger teams even if he is playing alongsode Sulky , i mean Gibson?

That's what I get for throwing a team together in ten seconds, knew I'd forget someone! I'd probably have McCarthy in for Hoolahan, keep Wes as an option on the bench for either of the central midfielders or Robbie if he starts to tire.

international football is all about making the best of your lot. we were miles off qualifying under stan and not much better under kerr. since then we have got to a wc playoff and qualified in traps 2 campaigns so far. with a team of average EPL, MLS and championship players thats quite an achievement but rarely acknowledged by some. the anti-trap brigade will miss the relative success we have enjoyed under trap when we end up as the next scotland when any new manager takes over. i shudder to think who we will end up with.

i am on record as stating that trap should be replaced at the end of this campaign as 3 campaigns in international football is enough. however if we qualify or come close to it and if trap continues to refresh our squad the way he has then he deserves another campaign if he wants it.

what is there for the pro-trap supporters to admit to being wrong about? that they supported a manager who always did his best for us? for supporting a manager who brought us relative success but didnt pander to a section of our fanbases views on how he as manager should pick his team and set us up? no thanks.

You can't answer the question, if you expect someone to say that when we qualify he did well, you have to admit that if we don't he did something wrong.

It was bizarre and nonsensical really though. jbyrne was probably just missing a comma between 'don't' and 'yet', otherwise it makes perfect sense.... if it's the manager's fault that we don't qualify, it surely stands to reason that it's his 'fault' if we do.

If we finish 2nd though we've exceeded expectations in terms of seeding, for the third time. I think that is far more worthy of praise than finishing third is of criticism. That's not to say we couldn't have finished higher with different team selections and/or tactics, but that would fall into the great unknown.

Well if it makes you feel any better Peader, the team you picked in 10 seconds is alot more balanced than some of the sides our 1.5 million manager has selected

If we manage to get out of this mess and make Brazil, Trap has to be credited

But the downside is , if the manager has the abilty to get us of this, then the question has to be asked , why the hell did he put us in it in the first place and why the hell was it left so late in the group to sort the issues out?

Really? It looks to me like he's only brought a player who's unavailable in for Glenn Whelan and moved Coleman to the right wing instead of right back, something Trap has done as recently as two days ago.

    mess??
when did we obtain the right with our resources to ever consider that being very well in the hunt for a play off place at this stage of a qualifying group could be considered a mess?

    the delusion of some.

Aye, but we can't be blamed for his grammar...

And Benno's was a far more pertinent point IMO.

'Mess' might be over-stating it though, even for me...

    Otherwise, a perfectly valid point.

as i said its all about what you can realistically be expected to achieve based on what you have Vs what you are actually achieving. thats how success or failure can be measured
